The problem of reading danmeis with power couples is that you won't be able to read normal dynamics couple (which takes maximum place in danmeis) anymore. Because what do you mean by one of them is a delicate flower and another is big bad alpha ? What do you mean by the big bad alpha tortures the flower, the flower runs away, then yields while crying when big bad alpha saves them from some low-life thugs? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY YOUR LEADS DON'T FIGHT SIDE BY SIDE, DON'T SCHEME TOGETHER, AREN'T MENACES TO THE SOCIETY, DON'T GO ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR EACH OTHER???? You don't stan & obsess over couples like that ? That's....cool (disrespectfully)

Bai Li from This Alpha Is Determined Despite Physical Disability [Interstellar]
Submission:
A badly-injured leg that continues to cause him pain.
/
Previously an ace mecha pilot, his injuries cause Bai Li to withdraw from what might have been an illustrious military career... and spend pretty much the rest of his life developing super-mecha robots that are controlled more by mental strength, so that people like him with less-than-optimal physical capabilities can become mecha pilots if they want to. Looks like a good-for-nothing, is actually a badass.
Novel Updates
Du Ze from The Reader and Protagonist Definitely Have to Be in True Love!
Du Ze is deaf and uses hearing aids.
Jing Lin from Nan Chan
Submission: Amnesia and chronic illness.
Jing Weiyi from The Imperial Uncle
Submission: Jing Weiyi's leg was broken when he fell off a horse when he was young. Afterwards, he walked with a limp for many years.
Ji Yushi from Mist [Unlimited]
Submission: Hyperthymesia... Basically, he can remember almost everything, and while that helps some in the scenarios of the novel, it also has a huge detrimental effect on him, and he needs pills to calm his mind and such. I'm not sure if it really counts as a disability, especially since there are less than a hundred people with this in real life, but I think it should count for this tournament since it's neurodivergence and such.
Kim Kiryeo from The Hunter of the Other World Who Is Being Misunderstood
Submission: Kiryeo has a badly healed leg injury which makes it difficult for him to walk and impossible to run, lungs damaged by smoking that heavily limit his physical ability, lung cancer that causes him to cough up blood occasionally and a severe depression to the point of memory loss. He couldn't receive treatment for his leg and cancer due to the lack of money and in the end gave up on it and started to smoke to cope.
Ruel Setiria from I Became a Sick Nobleman
"So what if I don’t know how the novel ended, I will survive in this world."
- Chapter 1
Ruel Setiria is an extra from the unfinished novel who dies in the middle of book 1. At the start, he suffers from an unknown illness that leaves him mostly bed-bound, unable to survive without daily medicine, and struggling to breathe with what's basically a magical inhaler. It takes him around a week of practicing to walk to the point of repeatedly passing out (after finding the power of recovery and convincing his assassin butler to not kill him) to be well enough to walk with a cane. He's strongly dedicated to his own survival, the land of Setiria, and living a normal life.
I haven't read a whole lot of the novel, but I like how the author writes with a sense of perseverance without feeling too inspiration porn-y (still a little bit tho) or immediately curing his disabilities.
Taemi from Heavenly Grand Archive’s Young Master
Taemi is the memver of the Six Heavenly Silkworm Paths who can only say “Dewng.” He uses sign language to speak to his brother and Hu Gong.
Xie Qingcheng from Case File Compendium: Bing An Ben
Submission: Xie Qingcheng was in a car accident at 13 which left him barely hanging on to life. His doctor used an experimental cell-regenerating drug on him that allowed him to live, but it gave him a debilitating mental illness that causes him to have to keep tight control on his emotions at all times lest he loses his mind. Due to prolonged use of the drug, Xie Qingcheng's body is weak and falls ill easily, and he is aging faster than he should be. His doctor, when giving him the drug, originally told him he'd only live until age 40. He also goes blind at one point in the novel.
