a few jiro ships and (some of) the reasons why i like them... sorry my handwriting is trashy lmao
a cut because i wanna delve into them a bit more/reiterate my bad handwriting:
momojiro - actual angel & her pet gremlin. jiro is supportive of her 100%, no matter what she does, and puts her on a pedestal but like... in pragmatic, realistic ways i.e. “momo is so smart, she aces all her tests”, or “momo would probably beat my ass at sparring, she’s really skilled with her quirk”. this is my top one for obvious reasons, im pretty sure i don’t need to delve too deep into why someone would like momojiro
todojiro - both think the other is too cool for them. jiro appreciates that he’s surprisingly soft under the mysterious cool guy exterior he has, while todoroki appreciates that she’s so mellow under her layers of hard rock and leather. probably like to nap together and that’s the cutest shit. just imagine jiro trying to introduce todoroki to all these bands after learning he doesn’t really listen to music and suddenly he’s got a small (but growing) album collection because she just keeps giving him stuff she thinks he’d like and he listens to all of it but never tells her whether he DOES like it or not because it makes him happy to see her so excited about something she’s passionate about. that’s the todojiro ship dynamic: jiro does things and todoroki quietly supports it because he just thinks she’s Neat™
bakujiro - a lot of bakugou’s interactions with jiro have been surprisingly subdued, and it’s obvious he thinks she’s intelligent and capable. they seem to enjoy each other’s company since they’re really often shown sitting together and just chilling together like that, and he managed to really speak to her and get her REALLY on board with the festival. she’d probably appreciate how hard he works at everything and recognize that under his temper, he’s a smart and capable guy who’s gonna go far in life. plus, he’d probably let her get away with stealing his shirts and hoodies, and i’m a big sucker for the “tiny gf wearing her bf’s oversized hoodie” aesthetic
toorujiro - a surprise rarepair from out of left field! i think i’m the only one who ships this so lemme explain it real hard so i won’t be the only one anymore. it’s pretty clear hagakure has some slight body image issues (she’s been shown comparing herself to other girls a lot), and out of everyone, i feel like jiro would be the one who’d support her without defaulting to “why does it matter, you’re invisible” and patronizing her that way? jiro understands that it’s important to look how you WANT to look, and hagakure can only do so much when she’s the only one who knows what she looks like. plus hagakure’s a gentle kind of extrovert, she’d like to see jiro come out of her shell but wouldn’t force it on her at all - which is great, because jiro really clearly prefers to reach out at her own pace! not only that, but jiro seems to spend a lot of time with her, and is totally cool with hagakure hanging off of her for no good reason... now just imagine hagakure getting into hard rock thanks to jiro and delving into metal without jiro even having to show her any in the first place. it’s a great spin on the sunshine/grouchy ship dynamic!!
