goodnight moon - jiwoo
before jiwoo goes to bed every night he prays. maybe if he does it long enough he can wake up from the nightmare that others call reality. in this realm people know of jiwoo but they don’t REALLY know him. he’s easily forgettable in this reality. he spends his lunchtime alone in the bathrooms, perched up on a seat of a toilet. he watches silently as other people greet their friends, gossip, do most things that typical people at this age do together. he does his homework on the roof but people never seem to notice his presence whenever they come up to make out, have sex, or smoke. reality for jiwoo is not being able to live with his mother because she’s a drug addict. he lives with his grandparents who think that he’s somewhat of an embodiment of a devil child since his parents had him out of wedlock. reality for jiwoo is his curfew on the weekends and having to go home so that his grandparents can do a drug test on him. more importantly to jiwoo...his reality is crushing on someone who barely even knows who he is. someone who he’d already made of a fool of himself in front of.
in the world that jiwoo is praying for he can imagine him being happy. him being in a world that involved having both parents around–– his father not dying from a drug overdose. his parents would have been successful musicians like they had wanted to initially. he would’ve had better powers that he could use to show off with. jiwoo would actually have a group of friends and wouldn’t even need to concern himself with the drama of the people that were regarded so highly at the school. in this world he would eat lunch with his friends and hopefully with that person that had seen him be a fool before, he’d say that the whole act was cute. his family would love him. he wouldn’t spend his weekends in an attic, he’d have his own room that was bigger than his door room. his life would be better.
jiwoo will keep praying and hopefully his wishes will eventually come true.
