Since moving to New York, about a decade ago, Jacob had focused so much first on his studies, then on work, that somehow without realizing it, he’d spent a big part of his life, on his own, without many friends or family he was close to, other than his father who he tried to visit often, back home in Lima.There was only a handful of people that he would call friends, some of them being recent additions in his life since he decided to be more active on social media and catch up with a few people from the past, that he’d tried hard to forget and ignore ever happened. One of the people he got in touch with, was Ryder. One of the few that had been kind enough to give him a chance and chat without bringing up his “good old self” that he’d been trying to hide away. To his surprise it was his job that got them talking, a subject not everyone wanted to hear about, considering it wasn’t exactly a cheerful topic. Hearing that he’d decided to move to New York, he was more than happy to offer his help and so it wasn’t long after that they’d arranged to meet up and move some boxes and maybe soon Jacob would have the chance to show him around a bit, give him a bit of a New York tour. As much as he didn’t like admitting it, he was hoping for a new friend. Following the directions to his address, he made it there a few minutes earlier, used to driving a bit faster than most and knowing what time was best to avoid traffic, considering a big part of his job was driving around New York. Once he was there, he sent Ryder a text to let him know and made his way to the apartment.
