This might be a controversial opinion, but I don't blame Rahim for picking Jo over Shannon.

Obviously the first thing is that it doesnt matter how absolutely gorgeous Shannon is, if he wasn't feeling a spark then he clearly wasn't going to stay with her out of obligation. Shannon hadn't been with him long enough for him to feel guilty leaving her.

And the way Shannon talked about Rahim? Like he was a prize and she was strategizing by 'going all in on him'? Doesn't really seem like she thought they had a super intense connection.

And finally Rahim is nonconfrontational. Instead of going directly to him to ask about the kiss, Shannon argued with and attacked Jo. That makes Jo look like the victim. Of course Rahim's going to side with 'the victim' instead of the person who seemingly is causing problems.

a Jo tantrum would inevitably drag in Ibrahim and he’d just try and explain calmly while she was screaming about how attracted she is to him, right? And he’s just blushing and muttering “I’m sorry, she’s had a bad day” and trying to get Jo to leave. and it’s even worse if the person that hit on her actually stands up for themselves, then Rahim has to reassure her that she is truly 100% heterosexual and that the other person’s at fault, not Jo for being the most stereotypical lesbian imaginable.

This whole scenario is triggering my fight or flight respong oml. It's spot on, but uhhhhh I feel unsafe lmfao.

Jo will periodically go on tirades about how it's unfair that lesbians 'steal having short hair and tattoos' and 'why do they want to look like men so bad if they hate men'. She'll get really pissy about how "why are all the women in BMX d*kes?!".

Lowkey I think Rahim's one of those "I'm okay with gay people I just don't want to see that... lifestyle in my face", so while he doesn't feed into it he definitely doesn't discourage her thinking.

oh jo is ABSOLUTELY a loves gay men while slating gay women but i get “i don’t care that they’re gay i just hate when they shove it in my face” vibes from both her and ibrahim. she’ll fetishise gay men but only if they’re super masculine and not “flamboyant” or “extra” (can you tell i despise her lmao). also ibrahim uses the f slur OFTEN

You’re ABSOLUTELY correct. Jo’s favorite member of the Queer Eye remake is Antoni. 

Jo’s the kind of girl who is all like “my boyfriend is so nice!!” even though he's super racist, misogynistic, classist, and homophobic. Jo is the same, she’s just more low-key about it. 

I know I saw some people headcanon that Jo is actually a lesbian in denial, and I’ll just say this- even if she were a lesbian (which I don’t think she is), she’d be a tiktok lesbian. One of those girls who hypersexualizes femmes and is all “hey mama”, and is super into fitness/presenting masculinely. She’d be the lesbian who says “sure I like women but I don’t make it my whole personality” and is super transphobic.

Idk why but I feel like Jo would be homophobic?? But like “I’ve got a gay best friend I’m not homophobic” or going to gay clubs/bars and complaining about girls trying to hit on her, or making jokes about gay people, Bi people or trans people etc

No for sure, I get that vibe too. I’ve said I think she’s a ‘Pick Me Girl’, because she seems not supportive and conservative. Her and Rahim both give me that vibe, like they’ll grit their teeth and say “while it’s religiously correct to say gay people are degenerates, it’s not nice and I wouldn’t do that.” I can seem them being racist/anti-Semitic/classist in that same way, the buttoned-up “I’m a nice person but I’ll cloak hateful ideology with “”””tolerant”””” language”.

I can see Rahim being more outright about these beliefs and a bit more radical, whereas Jo wants to enjoy the appearance of being a moderate. Jo absolutely LOVES Call Me By Your Name and things gay men are so hot and cute uwu but bullied her sapphic best friend in high school. Both of them are super transphobic.
