jo who's your twin brother euijoo's best friend and has a little silly crush on you from the moment he meets you in elementary school.

jo who eventually falls for you when he's a little older.

jo who insists on helping you carry the groceries when you return from the supermarket while he's at your place. he chooses the heaviest bag, barely managing to lift it out of the car and up the stairs to your apartment, but he refuses to give up.

jo who eventually ends up stumbling through the open apartment door, dropping the shopping bag and almost spilling the groceries all over the floor.

jo who quickly recovers, pulling the bag into the kitchen with his last strength and rushing back to the entrance to hold the door open for you – only to accidentally block euijoo's way when the older carries a bag inside with ease.

jo who notices you tripping on the stairs while carrying up the last bag. he quickly grabs your wrist before the bag slips from your hands.

jo who surprises both of you as he takes the bag from you without a word and carries it the rest of the way upstairs, leaving you with a confused expression but a smile on your face.

jo who knows you're into literature, so when you start studying literature at university while he's in his last years of school, he initiates a conversation about literature with you.

jo who, in fact, barely knows anything about literature and ends up misquoting an author hilariously.

jo who, in secret, always gets jealous whenever you hang out with euijoo's friend nicholas, who is in your age.

jo who subtly (not so sublty) tries to one-up nicholas whenever you mention an impressive basketball skill he showed you. he immediately picks up a ball and challenges euijoo to a "casual" game in front of you, just to prove he can do it better.

jo who starts working out in secret to look more manly, making sure to swap his loose hoodies and flannels with tight-fitting shirts whenever he comes over.

jo who offers you his jacket when you're all sitting in his garden on a chilly fall night. he's slightly shivering when he hands you the piece of clothing, but he doesn't back down.

jo who smiles sheepishly when you take the jacket and put it around your shoulders.

jo whose heart beats faster at the sight of you wearing his clothes.

jo who knows it's worth to freeze a little if it means you're warm.

jo whose jacket is warm smells faintly of his cologne. you can't help but smile at him, feeling a little bad when you see him shaking, but he refuses to take it back.

jo who can't take his eyes off of you, relieved you're not paying enough attention to him to notice.

jo who, when nobody is listening, blurts out, "you look cute in it." the words catch both of you off guard, leaving him stuttering to explain while your cheeks heat up and a shy smile creeps onto your face.

jo who immediately notices the tiny shift in your expression shortly after, your smile starting to look a little less genuine and a little more forced.

jo who, when you excuse yourself to the bathroom, stands up and follows you inside the house, determined to make sure you're okay, although he doesn't really know what to say.

jo who softly calls your name, making you stop and turn around. he approaches you – close enough so he can talk without the others outside listening, but far enough to leave a comfortable space between you.

jo who asks '"are you okay?" and "what's wrong?" in the softest tone ever.

jo who makes you feel oddly comfortable to talk.

jo who listens intently when you tell him about the big fight you had with your best friend and the literature class you failed.

jo who gives you a genuine smile, before saying, "it probably feels like everything's crashing down right now, but don't let those things define you. you’re so much more than one fight or one bad grade."

jo who adds a silent, "i wish you could see yourself the way i see you," in a lower voice, but loud enough for you to hear.

jo whose words make your chest feel all warm and fuzzy.

jo who, when you look up at him, smiles at the tiny hint of relief on your face.

jo who, days later, practices how to confess his feelings for you while euijoo is in the bathroom. he turns around when the door suddenly opens, and his eyes widen in shock when he sees you.

jo whose face turns bright red when he notices the amused look on your face. he immediately tries to avoid your eyes, hoping you didn't hear too much.

jo who, when you cross your arms and smile with amusement, realizes that you already knew. "you know... you’ve been pretty obvious for a while now."

This got long but even if you don't care for Dean/Jo I encourage you to give it a read!! I worked hard on it and it's got good Jo lore and character analysis!!! 🫶

OOOOOH great question thank you!! Me too!! Their parenting styles are soooo fascinating to me because their upbringings were vastly different so they have different views on things

Jo is such a cool mom!!! Imagine the older sister that lets you do stuff you're not supposed to do and introduces you to indie music and lets you watch PG-13 or scary movies and lets you look at her knife collection and even shows you how to do a sick knife trick (don't tell dad though). That's the vibe of Jo as a mom and we love to see it!!!

Dean is the goofiest dorkiest most fun dad ever and we love to see it!! He builds forts, he gives book characters funny voices, he makes everything into a game, he watches cartoons with them, and makes pancakes with gummy bears in them. He brings so much sunshine into their childhoods 😭😭😭 I'm so emotional about it. And when they're getting into their teen years he's embarrassing on purpose (it's the older brother in him lol) and also sometimes not on purpose, cause he's just a big dork.

Jo has a much easier time with the "cry it out" phase as babies than Dean does. He's a mother hen, it's hard for him not to nurture 😭 In a similar vein, Dean lets their kids sleep in their bed some nights longer than Jo thinks they should cause he's suchhh a softie. He can't help it. At a certain point, Jo has to be the one to put her foot down about it lol

We've seen it in canon but it's so important to me so I'm mentioning it anyway, Dean is so so gentle with kids 😭😭😭

An important quality Dean and Jo share as parents is they really listen to their kids. They don't do the whole "because I said so" thing, they don't don't talk down to them, they talk things out and respect and validate their emotions, autonomy, and boundaries.

Dean has never thrown away a drawing or handmade thing they've ever made. There's drawings on the fridge, a handmade leaky mug turned pencil cup on his nightstand, clay handprints, popsicle stick ornaments on the tree, etc etc etc. The most sentimental dad ever

Jo is not a fan whatsoever of playing princess (or super girly girl stuff in general) but Dean takes his princess/mermaid pretend playtime and tea party duties incredibly seriously. He gets very into character he is literally Andy Dwyer

In general Dean loves dressing up and Committing to the Bit. We know this and it's one of his strongsuits as a dad for sure and the kids love it so much

Not to get sad but I think Jo's dad would play pretend with her and she would beg him to play when he got home and they had so much fun together 😭 but anyways 🥲

Board games!!! Omg Dean and Jo are so competitive I can only imagine their kids would be too and family board game nights would be intense and sometimes it ends in fights and Dean and Jo start to think that maybe they should set a better example and not be so competitive with each other because it is just a game after all... but also they can't help themselves 😂 they're not perfect lol

In general though, I don't think they ever fight in front of their kids. They definitely bicker and tease each other but that's just their dynamic lol.

The supernatural books are definitely a thing and I think the kids would inevitably find them. Dean's excuse would be that he used to be buddies with the author and he used his and uncle Sam's likeness and they're totally 100% fictional. Who wants ice cream (immediate change of subject)

Dean obviously has a good amount of scars, some strange looking ones, that his kids would definitely have questions about and he makes up fantastical stories about each one. But he can't always remember every detail he tells them and forgets what he said last time all together, and the kids are suspicious lol

Now for the lore and analysis side of things...

I think with her dad on the road a lot and Ellen being busy running the roadhouse and answering calls from hunters, Jo was left to her own devices for the majority of her childhood. She was very much a free-range kid lol. But she was never alone, she always had Smokey (her childhood dog, which I talk about in this post) and when she was younger, he kept her from wandering too far off and would herd her back towards the roadhouse. But... I think that definitely changed after Bill was killed. Ellen became much more protective of Jo, and I think we all know how she felt about that. So I think Jo would be much more open to the idea of their kids just doing their own thing without constant supervision, whereas Dean would be veryyyy nervous about that because he's incredibly protective, it's been hardwired into him. So that's a common battle between them, trying to find a good balance for their kids safety and autonomy. Though they grew up in very different environments, they both felt like they weren't given the freedom of choices. So that's something they can agree is important to give their kids.

We're all very aware of how Dean's childhood (I use that term loosely) was so I'm not gonna sit here and explain it lol. So understandably as a dad he would definitely really struggle when it comes to discipline. Jo would have to be the bad guy.

Unrelated but I strongly believe Jo becoming a mom would actually be very healing for her and Ellen's relationship. It would provide them with not just a common ground, but a new common ground to bond over which helps them to let go of their history. Also, it would give Jo perspective on what being a mom is really like and give her a better understanding of her mom and her childhood. That being said it would definitely also bring its own set of problems, because I'm sure Ellen (though she means well) would have her opinions and advice on parenting that Jo would not agree with lol. But generally speaking, I think it would do them some real good.

Similarly, I think becoming a dad would force Dean to confront some things emotionally about his own father and his childhood and come to terms with the fact that "yeah that was actually really fucked up" in a very visceral way. I mean, think about Dean watching his innocent little kid playing in the yard and he thinks how he can't imagine ever handing that child a loaded gun and teaching them to kill. I don't think that would be healing for him to experience I just think that would be the reality.

Also, this doesn't need to be explained, but Dean for sure suffers from PTSD and it's really hard adjusting to civilian life as a parent. He learns to cope in more healthy ways than he used to, but it's a very real struggle.

I also think Dean would be mostly sober once he's a dad. Only drinking on celebratory occasions or when he just needs to forget the nightmares and settle his nerves so he can get back to sleep.

hello jo, how are you?! Because we are in spooky season, im here to ask: would your characters use halloween costumes?! If so, it would be matching costumes or each one would do their own thing?! What would they dress as?! I asked with the complete series in mind (dif, thin ice, ols) but feel free to talk about the series in progress or some of the one shots if you want to!!!

ohmygoodness hello nonnie!! wait I LOVE THIS?!? I'm so excited to think about this omg! I'm doing okay! Feeling pretty stressed (it's the middle of my last semester) but I'm hanging on! Below the cut, I will put how everyone is celebrating spooky season hehe 🎃

Let's start with my baby, Down In Flames

I feel like Aemond would be keen to dress up if the Reader expressed wanting to. As we know he's a pining simp and will do literally anything Reader says. I see a very cute vampire couple's costume in their future, something super easy (Aemond's just wearing his everyday black attire and some blood and fangs). You just know he looks so good that they barely make it to the club without tearing each other's clothes off.

Our Last Summer feels quite similar

My Aemond's are often very similar and again, always simp for the Reader, and would never in a million years complain about dressing up. I feel like he hasn't dressed up in the past aside from family costumes and a sibling costume Helaena INSISTED ON when they were teens (it was the three musketeers and Daeron was so pissed because he was in Oldtown).

I have to say it. I have to. Egg in a Hugh Heffner robe, Reader as a bunny. You know it's true, I know it's true. She's his bunny after all.

Egg fanonically (is that a word? well it is now) LOVES Halloween. Lives for it. Loves dressing up. So his excitement went through the roof when the idea struck him. The Hockey House is known for its parties and Halloween is no exception. And there may have been a repeat of the thigh riding while at the Halloween Hockey House Party.

english isn’t my first language. asakura jo. teenagers — just him teaching you how to play it right ﷼

Once he’s at the basketball court, he doesn’t let your hand go because he wants you to play with him and it doesn’t matter if you’re a lousy gamer, he doesn’t care and you can clearly see his excitement to have you there.

“Try to get the ball in” He says but as soon as you do it, the ball hits the wall making him laugh as you complain. “I’m sorry baby, but you’re so cute and I can’t control it” He says laughing and right after that, he takes the ball and goes behind you making you look so small due to the height difference.

He holds your hands with the ball and he starts to teach how to throw the ball in the right direction, making you feel nervous and shy since he’s so close to you. Once you throw the ball and it goes in, Jo smiles at you and holds your hands just to kiss your forehead before he goes to get the ball again.

When you start to play basketball, or you try to do it, he shows his skills by throwing the ball in and running around with a smile. “This is not a competition, Jo” You say jokingly without controlling the smile that appears when you look at him.

Then when you finally have the ball and start running in the court, Jo steals the ball from your grab and throw it in the air just to get it in. “Baby” You complain and your boyfriend walks towards you with his cute and charming smile, wrapping his arms around your waist and leaning on you. “I’m just teasing you” He admits and he starts to kiss your cheeks just to see your smile again.

Now he teaches you right, letting you know when it’s the perfect time to steal the ball from him and how to throw the ball correctly. So when you throw the ball in multiples times, he lifts you up in the air as you laugh.

Even if you don’t love basketball, playing it with Jo makes it better.

Jo not being a natural blonde and dyeing her hair is SO on-brand I feel like it's ooc for her NOT to. Like I just can't imagine Jo keeping the hair color she was born with during her transformative years. I think she went to school, was treated like a freak, dropped out and came home, had a depression era being back home and working at the roadhouse again, and one day bleached her hair and went blonde, then started devoting herself to becoming a hunter. It's about taking control of something in her life where she has very little agency and feels trapped, it's changing her identity in stark contrast to her old self, going from dark brunette to blonde. It's about looking in the mirror and not seeing the girl nobody wanted to play with, the freak who didn't belong anywhere, and instead seeing an entirely new version of herself who could be whoever she wanted to be.

Jo's bedroom is so covered in band posters you can barely see the pink walls underneath she outgrew over a decade ago, but never had the heart to repaint because her dad painted those walls with her. Her bookshelf is filled with mystery and romance novels and a few choice stuffed animals she couldn't part with. She has a collection of vinyls she's amassed over the years, some were her dad's. Her desk has markings and doodles she etched when she was supposed to be doing her homework. And Ellen never touched it after she left.
