It’s an honor to be able to call some of these giants of jazz, acquaintances and friends. Jazz musicians are not an easy lot to become friends with. They walk around with an air of trepidation and hesitation toward new comers. I think the nickname “cats” for jazz musicians is apt... as they are much like their feline namesake. If you’re too eager to hang and be friends, they just ignore you, but if you linger around long enough and they realize you’re not an asshole, they’ll warm up to you and want to hang. • Tonight I had the IMMENSE PLEASURE to be invited in by @joefarnsworthdrums for the private taping at @smallslive with #EricAlexander @tenorsaxtime, #PeterWashington and quite literally a living Legend #GeorgeCables. And you can see the honor and revere his peers have for him in the last video where #JoeFarnsworth is filming George practice and Joe is in awe. I can’t say I know much about #Jazz, other than I know how things sounds. But to be in the inner sanctum with these guys and listen to them riff and shout out key changes, time changes and sometimes just by a look or an elbow gesture is a sight to see. • If you can, go on over to #SmallsJazzClub website and donate what you can to the foundation to keep these cats playing. • Jazz is one of the few art forms we can still celebrate during these very difficult times, whether it’s online, on a street corner near you , at a restaurant, or just maybe a neighborhood coffee shop 😉. Donate what you can, because if ten million people give a dollar, that’ll go a long way. • #NYC #ILoveNY #I❤️NY #Manhattan #BigApple #RichardAgudelo #RicAgudelo #Photographer #Photographing #Photography #RespectCopyright #© #©RichardAgudelo (at Smalls Jazz Club) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDwDDb1Ain_/?igshid=f81jq7y5igud
