Update on winter/indoor percussion:

I love this and you can pry it away from my cold, dead hands.

Also: Cymbals are a lot more arm work than I expected, and I'm very lucky my left thumb is double-jointed. Because there have been a few occasions where I would have had some serious problems if it was not.

This was a post I made for someone on Discord about voice stuff, figured that it may help someone here as well.

Hi! Band kid (clarinet) here! I had to do a fair bit of singing in band class, so I got some of the same lovely voice dysphoria:sparkles:. Something that helps is thinking about how people of genders will have voices that fall outside of their "typical" voice ranges. And then people will have opinions about it. I once heard someone complain about Geddy Lee's voice being too high pitched and "feminine"—here's a song he uses some of his range in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gymNRI66BBk . Sure he's got the ability to sing higher than most dudes, but if you listen to the overtones/timbre (I have beef with whomever decided that was pronounced tamber) his voice is masculine. And the entire set of vocalists for Queen? Hot dang those dudes have some range! Also, remember that there is overlap between vocal groups! I personally have a pretty hecking weird voice. (And seasonal allergies affect it pretty significantly, making it even wonkier.) I can sing all the way down with Rick Astley on When I Fall in Love. And then turn around and match Steven Tyler on the absurd highs of Dream On.

P.S. I'd recommend checking out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocal_range and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_type for some range examples if you'd like. A tenor overlaps with darn near half of the mezzo-soprano's range. (In America we do a weird thing where we sort of delete the mezzo's and contralto's and instead just kind of have 2 groups: Soprano and Alto, which are split into different parts)

Still alive, sorry for going silent. English decided to drop a sack of bricks on me, and then I was getting caught up on all my other stuff, plus the new English assignments.

Basically, I was either working or sleeping. With a shortage of the latter. So no time to stop by here, even though I wanted to several times.

Anyway, the bots found the blog whiel I was gone, so had to clean that up.

Someone told me that if you look at your favorite characters from a couple of things you'll realize you have a type.

Akemi Homura from PMMM, Teagan's brother from the Sh*t series, and Suzuya Juuzou from Tokyo Ghoul were the first to come to mind.

"Oh, so my type is either mentally ill. Great. I'm sure this says good stuff I should put on a resumé." Literally immediately after thinking that, someone fricking knocks on a door in the brain. I didn't even know we had a door! Like—what???

I love my baby so so much

Like. First of all, I've known it for 12 years and well over 300,000 kms. And I still find reasons to be so hecking proud?? Of just how amazing my precious Turd is?

The battery was disconnected overnight because the TPMS wouldn't reset and the biggest side effect is that the ECU has to go through the relearn process. And so I start up the engine after waiting for everything to recharge. And it's idling ≈3-400RPM lower than it should, but it still manages to do it just fine. Like, after it was done high idling to warm the cats up, it was idling at 500RPM. But it never once died, and kept improving the idle. And that might sound easy, but would you know adjust the VVT system to minimum overlap at idle with only 5 minutes of experience?

And I took the recycling to the drop-off, and when I got to the stop sign next to it, my brilliant baby had figured it out and was idling as smooth as butter. And had only stuttered twice on the way there, both times at 2kRPM. And learned to fix it!

Guys, I love my precious little adorable car so much. Like so much.

WTF Tumblr

I don't know how, but the Hellsite is somehow the most taxing site i can visit.

Like, I can stream video for a half hour at my phone's max screen resolution, and there's about a 1 in 15 chance Discord will reload itself and get stuck in the mobile site. I close it and pull it back up to get the desktop version back, problem solved.

Tumblr? There is a 1 in 10 chance it doesn't reload Discord when I do anything that involves loading a new page on this site. What the heck, man.

I pulled one of the greatest stunts on my friend.

I was at the Saturday performance for my school's winter concert, and as I was about to head home, someone had a wonderful idea: I should leave a note on his car.

So I grabbed one of the post-it notes (there's a stack in the center of the dash. Don't know why, but there is) and in the 🌸prettiest🌸 handwriting possible, wrote something down. I put it on the back, so it would be visible from inside the car. I drove over to his car, parked, and wiped a small bit of the windshield off so it would stick.

Fast-forward a few hours, to the end of the evening performance.

I am drive over to his car, park and kill the engine, then step out of the car and immediately forget what the heck I came over there for. He comes over and says hi, and then asks why I look so lost. I tell him that I literally drove 200 metres and cannot for the life of me remember why. Someone else we know comes up and we wave, and I look around for the reason I came over as they leave.

He begins to get in his car and says something along the lines of "What the heck is this? Someone left a note on my car!"

I, being the good friend I am immediately laugh because who on earth would do that? And then ask him to see it. As I'm walking around his car, he starts making guesses about who it was.

He shows me the note, and I suddenly remember that I'm the one who wrote that. I'm suddenly laughing, but not because of what was on the note. I told him to ask some of his friends about it and see if anyone knows.
