Blame Game
“Adam blamed, Eve blamed, The Serpent blamed.
GOD, ashamed of its closest pets,
cursed-out responsibility
to the triad:
Adam fights the hostile earth,
Eve faces deadly-painful births,
and Serpent eats only dust and dirt.”

Mom watches the waves. White birds plummet into the choppy blue. Popping up empty mouthed. Trapped on the oceans-desert- doorstep. Water and sand bury her feet beneath. She moans a seal song from before the ensnarement of trickery-love. Her old skin tucked away in her husband’s house. She never returns home to the waves, moaning for the sea.

I hold you to hear your heartbeat in my ear, penetrating the brain like drums. Death will steal your heart. I cry on your shoulder and you kiss my forehead.
