The year was 1989 and the place was Irvine California. I was fresh off the boat from Italy and had the honor of having lunch and meetings with the legendary Clint Eastwood. He was involved with Weider Gyms at the time and I was translating for some Italian companies, often at Weider headquarters in Woodland Hills. Clint was supposed to be involved on some level but the deal never came to fruition. I’m happy I was there to witness Joe and Clint talk business even though with Clint I remember during the whole lunch he talked about his favorite memories of working in Rome in Cinecittà and it’s vicinities. Those movie studios happen to be 10 minutes away from my house in Rome and I would look at them every day through the bus window back-and-forth to school. Later on as a teenager I often auditioned there and booked quite a few jobs on commercials and Italian TV.
