CARTOON CLUB #07 FOLLOW-UP

This is one I stumbled upon with my RNG'd cartoon watches, and enjoyed quite a bit! I'm pretty fond of the Van Beuren Tom and Jerrys, despite not having seen all that many--the designs are charming, the clunkiness (a symptom of the VB shorts as a whole) is endearing, the music is GREAT and a lot of times it's just silly nonsense for the sake of silly nonsense.

This falls into that category--it's not much more than a collection of fish related gags, but I'm in love with the soundtrack and there's a prevailing pep throughout the whole short that keeps me invested.

I don't really have very much to say on it, just because it in itself doesn't necessarily offer a whole ton to talk about, but it stood out to me through the week and I kept thinking back on what a fun watch it was, so now I impart that unto you!

So, I had a little fun on Canva creating John Foster's book covers.

It's by no means perfect but I like the look of them :)

Also the last one isn't a book mentioned in The Blue Castle but is inspired by this excerpt :

“Here’s a patch of dandelions,” said Valancy, unsubdued. “Dandelions shouldn’t grow in the woods, though. They haven’t any sense of the fitness of things at all. They are too cheerful and self-satisfied. They haven’t any of the mystery and reserve of the real wood-flowers.”

“In short, they’ve no secrets,” said Barney. “But wait a bit. The woods will have their own way even with those obvious dandelions. In a little while all that obtrusive yellowness and complacency will be gone and we’ll find here misty, phantom-like globes hovering over those long grasses in full harmony with the traditions of the forest.”
