Faithfully (Gordo Stevens x F!Reader)

Warnings: Spoilers for season 2 of For All Mankind, drinking, slight groping, slight sexual energy

You feel his blue eyes on you before you spot him across the hall in a very crowded Outpost. It seemed as if the whole state of Texas was celebrating the heroic return of those that were on Jamestown when the cosmonauts attacked in your small bar.

Well, not yours, but your elder brother's bar who sits in the corner nursing a bottle of whiskey. Of course he's not the object of your attentions. No, it's Gordo Stevens, who has not been left alone since the moment he arrived. After he and Tracey saved Jamestown from a nuclear disaster, they were immediately given a Medal of Honor for their actions. And now, despite all the pats on the back and toasts in their names, Gordo still seeks you out and manages to find you.

Downing his drink, he offers polite smiles and 'thanks' to everybody who crosses his path. Heading to the jukebox, Gordo slips in a couple of quarters and queues a song, your song.

Your eyebrow raises as you look over to his form, noting him leaning over the jukebox. Taking a sip from your drink, your eyes catch his as he offers you a small smile, trying to pass through the crowd before coming to a stop a couple feet in front of you.

"Hi," it's timid as if he's unsure of what he's doing. "How are you doing?"

You set your drink down as you take a step closer. "I should be asking you that. You seem to be busy," a smirk plays on your lips as Gordo's hand flies to the back of his neck, rubbing the skin there as a pink tint takes over his skin while your eyes rake him up and down. Sure you had always found him attractive, but his attitude was a turn off. That and he was married. But now, he's much more mellow and not married so your attention to him only grew.

"Yeah, can't get a second to myself," he mumbles, his eyes looking down at his feet as the familiar notes of Journey starts playing.

"Is this Journey?" You ask with a smirk as Gordo nods, shoving his hands in his pockets before immediately taking them out and taking a deep breath, raising his blue eyes to meet yours. It's now or never.

"Would you like to dance?" He sticks out his hand, his eyes closed in fear of rejection, but when he feels a warm weight against the palm of his outreached hand he hesitantly opens his eyes only to find you smiling softly at him.

"I would love to," he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding as you wrap your arms around his shoulders. Gordo places his hands on your hips and awkwardly shuffles to the piano of 'Faithfully' only to stop when you let out a small chuckle. "You can touch me, you know."

"Are you sure? I don't want Ed to beat my ass." You quickly peer over to Ed who's still sulking in his corner, the liquor bottle more empty than the last time you saw it. Looking back at Gordo, your hand reaches up and pushes a strand of brown hair from his face, not missing the way his eyes widen in shock.

"Just dance with me, Stevens." A boyish grin finally plasters itself on his face as his arms wrap securely around you, pulling you into his sturdy frame.

"Yes ma'am," the two of you sway to the rhythm as his head rests against your, your hearts beating in tandem with each other. The world around you, the people around you, all seem to disappear as you can only focus on the sensation of his arms holding you so tenderly as if you'd break. Neither of you could deny how right it feels to be in each other's arms.

Nudging your head with his, Gordo inhales the lavender scent of your hair as he grounds himself to this moment. "I thought I was going to die up there." He slightly pulls away and looks down at you. "I thought I wasn't going to make it out alive, and I didn't want that to happen without letting you know how I feel."

Your heart skips a beat as your hands grip onto his clothes a little tighter. "What do you mean, Gordo?"

"I love you. I love you so much." He blurts out the truth as the two of you still in the middle of the dance floor, still remaining in each other's arms.

"I love you too, Gordo." His hand reaches up to your face and cups your cheek in his palm, his thumb tracing over your cheek bone.

"Is it alright if I kiss you?" Unlike earlier, his voice is low and sure. His confidence from his youth returning as he asks a question he already knows the answer to. You stand on your tippie toes and nip on the shell of his ear, causing him to shiver under your touch.

"You can do more than that if you want."

"Careful kitten, you don't know what you're getting yourself into."

"I think I wanna find out." His eyes darken as a hand slips down to your ass. "Wanna get out of here?"

His head perks around the room before spotting an easy escape. Grabbing onto your hand, he begins to guide you through the sea of people. "Yeah. I do. It was getting too stuffy anyways."

And with that, Gordo leads you out the bar and into the night where you and him dance all night long.
