‘What’s the point in gloves anyway?’ - John Mitchell
Winter Drabble Prompts
If there was one thing you’d learnt about Mitchell it was that he had an affinity for wearing gloves. There was never a moment where he was without his trusty gloves.
‘What’s the point in gloves anyway?’ you asked, watching as he pulled at the cuffs, straightening the usually rumbled material so it laid flat against his arms.
‘To keep your hands warm,’ he said, not looking at you. But you could still see the small smirk on his lips, could still tell that he was trying hard not to be completely sarcastic at the question.
‘But fingerless gloves?’ you insisted, folding your arms as he looked towards you. ‘You know, most people stick their hands in their pockets, or get handwarmers, or -’
‘Have you tried doing anything with normal gloves on?’
‘Isn’t that what mittens are for?’ you countered, smirking as he looked towards you somewhat sharply. ‘Warm hands until you need to do something.’
‘When you’re little!’ he said, and you could hear the mild note of disbelief behind his voice.
‘So, fingerless gloves are the adult version of mittens?’ you asked slyly, making sure that your scarf was laying flat.
Mitchell scoffed, and you felt a smirk lifting your lips easily. ‘You wait, you’ll be wanting them when we’re out there.’
You shook your head adamantly. ‘Nope, I’m just going to use your jacket,’ you assured him, moving to wrap your arms under his jacket, pulling him in for a hug.
Mitchell chuckled, you felt the sound vibrating through him before he placed a soft kiss on the top of your head.
‘Come on, before I change my mind,’ you said, shifting away from him and hauling open the door, really hoping that this was going to be worth the cold and the smug look on his face that would come.
