The Poppies of Flanders Fields. Mixed media collage I created, using my original poppy design, a tracing of the actual crosses at Flanders Fields to create the white & purple grave crosses (the purple one is in the shade of a tree), and a scan of McCrea's poem that I ink-jet printed onto organza. Lest we forget the men and women who lost their lives fighting for home and family. In dedication to my beloved father-in-law Robert Wilson Bredin. WW2 vet who named his son (my DH) after his mate Sid whose ship was sunk while on convoy in the North Atlantic. Bob died only days after our grandson was born. His last words were “Is the baby okay?” Brave, beautiful man who sailed through hell and back again. . . . #inflandersfields #johnmccrea #poppiesofflandersfield #janetricebredin #ww2vet #ww2veteran #remembranceday #remembranceday2019 #dayofremembrance #remembrancedaycanada #mixedmediacollage #fibreartcollage #fibreartist #fibreartistsofinstagram #quiltart #artquilt #artquilting (at Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4uvZyRJeM5/?igshid=1p6lb1tcwxty9
