Sunday exploration... ⛰ 'Inhabitants of Norton Sound and their Habitations' was drawn by John Webber and engraved on copper by B. T. Pouncy. It was included in Captain James Cook's publication where he describes in full detail his "Voyage to the Pacific Ocean, undertaken by the Command of His Majesty, for making discoveries in the Northern Hemisphere. Performed under the direction of Captains Cook, Clerke and Gore, in His Majesty's Ships the Resolution and Discovery, in the years 1776, 1777, 1778, 1779 and 1780." It was printed by W. & A. Strahan, for G. Nicol (Bookseller to His Majesty); and for T. Cadell, both of the Strand, London, in 1784. The Pace Report: "Letting Loose" The Peter Bernstein Interview

Welcome to another edition of The Pace Report featuring guitarist and educator Peter Bernstein performing at the Jazz Standard in New York City. Sharing the band stage with Peter is NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Cobb, pianist Harold Mabern, and John Webber on bass.

Peter's latest CD "Let Loose" features Gerald Clayton, Doug Weiss, and Bill Stewart.

For years Peter has been a trailblazer on the New York Jazz scene both here and abroad backing and performing with the likes of "Papa" Lou Donaldson, Sonny Rollins, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joshua Redman, Jim Hall, Melvin Rhyne, and Larry Goldings.

I sat down with Peter during his weeklong stint at the Jazz Standard to talk about his musical influences, his backing some of the most prolific jazz organists, and his role as an instructor at NYU.
