Jack
[ The store of The Joker's decent into chaos. I hope you guys enjoy.]
The Joker hadn’t always been a bad guy. In all honesty he use to be a relatively sweet kid. That is before the whole Batman/Ace Chemicals debacle. But I digress.
Have you ever wondered what the mighty King of Crime was like before all the mayhem? Well, sit back sir or madam and let me tell you a little story.
Back before he decided to dedicate himself to rule the world with Chaos and Mayhem at his side he had been just your average Joe. Ok so maybe not avarage... He had a few problems, the occasional whispering voices may have been one, but it’s just so hard to tell.
His name was Jack and he had been a brilliant up and coming scientist. [His knowledge of chemicals and how they work really came in handy when he became King.]
He had a normal house and a normal life, nothing to exciting. He had once had a run in with Batman but unlike now a days he wasn’t on the receiving end of his fury. [Not that being on this end bothered him at all. He actually rather enjoys it his run in’s with Batsy.]
So how did such a mostly normal guy turn into the most feared man in Gotham you may ask? Contrary to popular belief the chemicals are not all to blame. Jack had been in love, true honest to god love. She was a beautiful young lady with long dark hair, he couldn’t get enough of her fair skin and her hypnotic blue eyes. She was his perfection. He hadn't known it at the time but she kept the voices at bay. She was his sanity, his heart and his humanity.
The day he lost his sanity and was sent down the road of Chaos was the day his beautiful Clara died.
She had been on her way home after working late. Unfortunately it set her up to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. A fire fight had broken out between two low level gangs and she got caught in the middle, dieing before emergency responders even had a chance to arrive. If that hadn’t been heart breaking enough Jack had found out only the day before that the love of his life had been three months pregnant. In that one moment his entire world burt to the ground. Leaving room for the insanity to slip in, just a bit at first seeping through the cracks of his broken heart.
He turned to petty crimes, determined to make a name for himself in Gotham. The first life he ever took was as Jack. It took him months to gather a small crew but after he had support he decimated both gangs that held responsibility for Clara’s death. And the insanity darked his heart.
After that Jack swore he would never let emotions get the best of him ever again. They were reliance, they were surrender and they were weakness.
He convinced himself he had no heart, no capacity to feel. The lie was so good he almost completely deceived himself. But deep down in the only corner of his dark heart that was still human, feelings lingered, even if they could only surface for just a moment or manifest as obsession. They were there. And every once in a long while someone would catch his attention in a way that was more than just lust. He would find a Queen and that small part of his heart would fight for a foot hold against the darkness.
So you see the King of Crime, the Crowned Clown Prince still has a small part of a heart. It is fragile and small, never used very much. But if your the right person, if you can get him purring in just the right way. You can see it. The glimps of Jack hiding away. Waiting for the next love of his life to find him and make him a better man.
But if you value your life at all. If you wish to breathe your next breath. Keep this secret to yourself. Never call him Jack. And never accuse him of caring....
