I recently picked up the first metal gear solid novel. I never see anyone talking about them ever, I’m about half way through the first book (Snake is just meeting Otacon) and I am really enjoying it.
There are some really corny lines (like more corny than more metal gear) but they just add to the charm. They did novels for all the solid snake games (MGS, MGS2, and MGS4) I kinda wish there were novels for the big boss games too.
There is one retcon that was very front and center they changed it so Solid snake’s hair was always black instead of blond but the games retcon that anyway so I guess it’s fine.
After I finish reading the series I kinda want to calculate what rank Snake would have gotten at the end of each game because he kills like a shit ton of people in this book, but at the same time he doesn’t use any rations or save or cause any alerts I just feel that it would be interesting.
