Launched with great fanfare, a promising denim collection with a well known and well respected menswear brand attached has since largely disappeared from view. A collaboration between luxury Italian house Domenico Vacca and denim iconoclast Jon Koon, Domenico Vacca Denim sought to add a somewhat 'edgy', more contemporary feel to the DV empire with a uniquely crafted line of jeans named after Hollywood A-list actors like Forest Whittaker and Mickey Rourke. We're not exactly sure what happened but the DV denim brand and the collection seem to have faded into an uncomfortable, unresolved obscurity; an unfortunate circumstance for a collection that seemed to be be headed for success. This piece documents the search for models for the line at a time when the brand was in its early, headier days.
