Local theatrical rock band, Incura, released their new self-titled album several weeks ago. The new release features this unique theatrical metal sound, genuine to Incura alone.
The members of Incura have created their own unique sound. Although certain influences can be detected, it's difficult to classify the band under a definite label. Lead singer, Kyle Gruninger, provides the perfect falsetto to counteract with the smooth intensity of their guitar riffs. Some of my favourite songs off the album showcase the theatrical aspect to Gruninger’s vocals. "Who You Are" is an example of such. It comes complete with these random theatric outbursts, balanced with some more intensified metal sounds. The switch ups are reminiscent to a typical Venetia Fair song. Things quickly mellow out with some slower numbers and energetic edgy tunes as Gruninger falls back in to some alternative vocals.
The theatrical rock scene is quite miniscule, but Incura are providing a beacon shining from within. They've created this unique, theatric-metal blend that works fluidly. It won't be long before the rest of the world is aware of it as well.
