"Resurrection"
Jordon Schranz, Jeff Rheinland, and Jacob Wick at the Preston Contemporary Art Center, Old Mesilla, NM, 2009
Improvised sound performance utilizing appropriated slide transparencies and audio recordings of my late grandfather playing the organ. The sounds and visuals are collaged into the environment, adding his voice from the past to the dialogue of contemporary experience.
"Out on a Cloud", 2009
Soldiers during World War I who, while laying dying on the battlefield, would request to be injected with morphine, rendering their last moments of life painless so as to metaphorically “go out on a cloud”. Images of the Southern New Mexico landscape populate the video, particularly the areas surrounding the Organ Mountains where the ashes of both my grandparents rest.
