Street Kai On Takutai. The Food Truck Collective gathered on Takutai Square, Britomart today and crowds descended on the Square for lunch, until 9pm. Uncle wanted to see his favourite food fam, The Rolling Pin and Judge Bao. Gordon Yong of The Rolling Pin exchanged quick greetings with Uncle, and with a queue forming behind him, ordered the vegan Buddha’s Delight dumplings: tofu, shitake, pumpkin, bokchoy & cabbage, served with Asian slaw, with a piquant soy dressing topped with friend shallots and peanuts. Next door was Judge Bao (Jamie & Debbie). My choice was Uncle Yan: fuyu fried chook, corn mayo, Sriracha in home-made bao, served with slaw & rice crisps.
