You know what sucks, one of the main ways I developed my art style is through evaluating what I found appealing in my art idols’ styles and then trying to emulate it. Whether that be studying speed paints, using their brushes, or in some cases reverse engineering them because they don’t like sharing (that won’t stop me sorry). And then i frakenstein them all together til it forms something new. But nowadays kids can’t do that without someone twice their age call them out for theft and have their flying monkeys come harass them. Oh BROTHER 😭

I mentioned this on twitter but I’ll continue my thoughts here actually. I want to like bsky but it’s made intentionally in a way to be antisocial media so much so it’s kinda detrimental to user experience. Like yeah I won’t doom scroll.. or be addicted to the feed… but unless you’re not trying to gain or grow the audience you already have there’s not much bsky can offer you. It’s made to be “fun” on purpose, you can’t really curate your feed in a way you want, your post can’t really gain traction without the help of larger accounts, and even then it won’t go far because of you guessed it—no algorithm! Like I’m not trying to bash bsky or anything really, but it’s definitely not an alternative to twitter. I don’t think anything will be. You just have to make peace with that and try a new platform with entirely different feels. Bsky is a quiet casual place that’s ill equipped for the what the average twitter user wants.
