Chapter 16 - Secrets

Nagising si Elmo sa alarm ng phone niya at 6am, na nakalimutan niyang baguhin kagabi. Dahil gising narin naman siya ay dumiretso na siya sa bathroom sa hall to shower and brush his teeth, since he decided to let Julie stay in his room. 30 minutes after taking care of business, he went back to the room he occupied last night. Nagsuot ng khaki shorts at and a gray wife beater and went downstairs to the kitchen to see if anyone is up already. Pagdating niya sa kitchen ay wala pang tao so he decided to start brewing the coffee, and grabbed pancake mix and eggs from the pantry, and bacon, ham and hotdog from the fridge. Before sila magpunta sa rest house ng family niya, he asked the care takers to buy grocery for their breakfast lang, tapos sila ng bahala sa meal nila for the rest of their stay there.  He went to the living room and turned the turntable and amplifier on then picked one of his favorite album and nilagay ang plaka sa turntable, there was a scratching sound then the music started playing. Di malakas ang sounds niya, sakto lang na animo'y parang background music lang. He went back to the kitchen getting all the ingredients he need, he started making the pancake batter at sinalang na ang bacon, ham, and hotdogs na sabay-sabay in seperate pans, tutal 5 burner gas range naman ang gamit niya. Nang makita niyang tapos na mag brew ang coffee he poured himself a cup and took 2 big gulps then went back to his cooking.

Habang naka tingin sa niluluto niya, naisip niya ulit ang encounter nilang dalawa ni Julie kagabi. Every time na nakikita niya ito parang mas lalo pa siyang gumaganda. Kung hindi siya nagda-drive, at kailangan naka focus sa daan ay buong car ride ay tititigan nalang niya ito. Aware siya na engaged na si Julie sa ibang lalaki, pero alam ni Elmo ang nakita niya during the merger party sa men's lavatory, alam niyang niloloko si Julie ni Aiden, pero kahit ganon no choice siya kung hindi maging mabuting kaibigan.

Am I really being a good friend by not telling her what I saw? At the same time, habang pinipigilan ang kanyang nararamdaman para kay Julie.

He was still deep in thought , tending to his cooking ng marinig niya ang paborito niyang kanta and that he couldn't stop himself from singing along to the music while  flipping the pancakes na nasa pan narin at the time when he heard a voice,

"Good morning Elmo! Mukhang maganda ang gising natin Elmo ah? Kumakanta ka pa talaga, hahahaha!" Maqui said.

"Good morning to you too Frencheska." he replied, then looked at Julie who elbowed Maqui sa side, when she looked back at him, nagtama mga mata nila at nginitian siya nito.

"Good morning Moe."

"Good morning Julie. Coffee?" Elmo asked as he moved to get two cups para sa mag best friend and filled it with coffee.

Julie ans Maqui headed for the dining table and sat down as Elmo served them their coffee.

"Thank you." Julie said with a smile as she took a sip of her coffee

"Thank you Magalona."

"You're both welcome!" sagot ni Elmo at bumalik na sa kitchen para ilipat sa serving plate ang mga niluto niya.

In-eenjoy nila Julie ang kape nila habang hinihintay matapos ang niluluto ni Elmo. A few minutes after ay lumapit na si Elmo para ihain ang mga niluto niya sa lamesa, hanggang sa nag si babaan narin ang iba nilang kasama para saluhan sila sa breakfast.

Habang kumakain sila ay napag usapan narin nila kung ano gagawin nila sa araw na yun at ang lugar na pupuntahan nilang mga establishments, etc.  Nang matapos na sila kumain ng breakfast, sinabihan na niya ang mga team niya na mag prepare na dahil after 30 minutes ay lalarga na sila, since gusto sana ni Julie na maaga sila makaalis para hindi sila gabihin, at maaga din makapag pahinga dahil marami silang target na puntahan.

Nauna nang nagsipag akyatan sa kani-kanilang kwarto ang teamates ni Julie para makapag ayos na sila,  habang siya ay tinutulungan si Elmo na ilagay ang mga nagamit nilang dishes sa dishwasher, si Maqui naman ay hindi parin tapos kumain.

"Maq! bilisan mo naman jan! In 30 minutes aalis na tayo!"

"Oo na, heto na nga oh binibilisan na!"

Elmo was leaning at the kitchen counter with his arms crossed was watching the banter of the two women with amusement.

"Ang bagal bagal kasi kumain!"

"Ang dami kaya nito!"

"Bakit kasi ang dami mong kinuha?"

"Eh natakam ako eh! Di kaya tayo nag dinner kagabi! Puro chichirya lang."

Elmo chuckled kaya napatingin ang dalawa sa kanya.

"Anong tinatawatwa mo jan Magalona?" Maqui chastised habang si Julie naman ay natahimik at napatitig kay Elmo.

"Hoy Julie Anne! Bakit natahimik ka yata jan?" puna ni Maqui

Elmo looked at Julie curiously at napansin niyang namumula ang pisngi nito.

"W-Wala. Mauna na ko umakyat para mag ayos. Bilisan mo na jan Maqui! After 30 Minutes at di ka pa tapos iiwan ka na namin." sabi ni Julie habang naglalakad palabas ng kitchen/dining room.

"Yes ma'am! Sunod ako pag tapos ko dito." Maqui answered.

Elmo watched Julie walk out of the kitchen to head upstairs to shower and change, and now he was left at the kitchen with Maqui. He walked towards the dining table and sat in front of Julie's best friend. He decided in a whim, to confide in Maqui.

"Maq, may tanong ako" Elmo asked when he was sure na hindi na sila maririnig ni Julie.

"Shoot." Maqui said habang tinatapos ang breakfast niya.

"Gaano na katagal si Julie and her..... fiancé?"

Maqui chuckled, "May panagalan yung tao Elmo. Aiden pangalan niya." Shaking her head with mirth at Elmo's obvious disdain towards Julie's better half.

"Right, whatever, di mo sinagot tanong ko. Gaano na sila katagal and paano sila nagkakilala?"

Maqui looked at him with a smirk on her face, "Ikaw Moses ah! What's with the questions? Kung gusto mo malaman bakit di mo tinanong si Julie kanina bago siya umakyat?"

"I'm just curious, tsaka baka kung ano isipin ni Julie kapag siya tinanong ko and besides ikaw best friend ni Julie kaya sigurado akong masasagot mo tanong ko."

"Hahaha! Sus! If I know nag seselos ka lang!"

"Hoy, hindi ah! Di ako nagseselos, curious lang talaga ako. Dali na Maq! Stop teasing! Seryosong tanong yun!"

"Okay, Fine!" Maqui sighed, while Elmo listened intently.

"They met two years ago," Maqui continued, taking a sip from her coffee, "Nung mag start mag work dun si Aiden, pero di namann agad na nagging sila, they dated for a while, then eventually nagging sila before pa mag start yung scandal with the former CFO ng SJ Corp."

She looked at Elmo who seemed to be in deep thought after she answered his questions.

"Why are you suddenly curious about their history Elmo?" Maqui added.

Elmo looked at Maqui, sighed deeply "Aware ba si Julie sa extra curricular activities ng fiancé niya?"

"Extra curricular.... What the fuck are you talking about Magalona?" Pagtatakang tanong ni Maqui

"N-Nothing..." Elmo answered uneasily, clearing his throat he continued, "What do you think of their relationship? Masaya ba sila? What was your first impression of him?"

Maqui just looked at him curiously, naghihinala siyang may alam si Elmo na hindi niya sinasabi, na nagpapangamba sakanya.

"Seriously, what are you trying to say Elmo? May alam ka ban a dapat kong malaman? Na dapat malaman ni Julie?"

Nagtinginan lang sila ni Elmo, when he sighed deeply at lumipat sa bakanteng upuan sa tabi ni Maqui.

He cleared his throat, and uttered the words as quietly as possible, "Kung ano man ang sasabihin ko sayo ngayon Maq, stays between the two of us. Promise me."

Napaisip si Maqui, "Fine. I promise." She said.

Bumuntong hininga ulit si Elmo ng napaka lalim and leaned even closer kay Maqui.

Sinubukan lumayo ni Maqui kasi medyo di siya kumportable sa posisiyon nila pero hiniwakan ni Elmo ang braso niya para pigilan ang pag iwas ni MAqui sa kanya.

'During the merger party, nung nagpunta ako sa Male's lavatory, I heard a noise in one of the stall, moans and groans to be precise, of a man and a woman--"

"What are you getting at?" pag-interrupt ni Maqui.

"Just let me finish" Elmo said sighing again.

"I thought, when I first heard it was, 'good for you man.' Because I used to do those kind of thing when I was in the US, wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am kind of thing—"

"God Magalona! TMI! TMI!" Maqui said incredulously

"Stop interrupting me Frencheska!"

"Get to the point of your story na kasi!"

"Ito na nga!" Elmo leaned in closely again, "I guess they were in the cusp of their fucking when I went inside kasi after nun the woman stumbled out looking disheveled, and went out of the lavatory while doing the best she can to fix herself, then after the guy came out tucking his shirt then zipping his pants, I got a good look at him through the mirror and gave him an approving smile, you know.

"Men" Maqui muttered.

"Anyway, I left him there after I mentioned getting the stain sa pants niya cleaned up—"

"Ewww!" Maqui looking disgusted.

"—before leaving the lavatory and going back to the party. Di ko alam kung sino siya at that time, I assumed na isa siyang employee ng SJC enjoying the party until---"

"Oh, God no"

"Until Julie introduced him to me and Kuya Frank as her boyfriend and then later on that night...her fiancé." Elmo finished silently fuming.

"That fucker!!! Sabi ko na eh!! Tama hinala ko!" Maqui exclaimed in anger

"Sshh! Maq keep your voice down!" Elmo hissed quietly.

"What spurred this on Elmo? Bakit mo ngayon lang naisipang sabihan ako? And bakit hindi mo sinabi kay Julie? You had plenty of opportunity to tell her."

"I don't know...I just... She deserves better Maq..She doesnt deserve to be lied, cheated on and humiliated like this. She just, she deserves better."

Maqui nodded in understanding, "We need to tell Julie."

"Maq, we can't tell Julie, at least not yet."

"And why the hell not?!"

"Wala tayong proof!"

"Anong walang proof? Eh nakita mo na nga with your own two eyes diba? What more proof do we need?" Maqui asked incredulously but kept her voice down still.

"Sa tingin mob a maniniwala sakin si Julie king sabihin natin sakanya?"

"Oo! You're her best friend too!"

"I don't know... basta wag muna ngayon.."

"Eh kalian pa? Kapag ikakasal na sila?"

"No! Kahit after lang ng launch ng clothing line, she will be devastated when she finds out Maq! And this launch has a lot riding on it! Its very important sa SJC and sa FMCC na maging successful ang launch na ito, hindi siya pwede ma side track."

Maqui sighed in resignation, because he has a point. "Fine! Basta promise me that you'll tell her. Kung hindi ako ang magsasabi. Julie has the right to know."

Napalingon sila sa likuran nila at medyo lumayo sila sa isa't isa nang margining ang boses ni Julie.

"What is it that I have got the right to know?"

Hello dear readers! It has been a very, very long time. As you all know ATT is on INDEFINITE HOLD, since after everything that's been happening with my personal life, being busy with work and my daughter, wala na kong time tapos dagdag pa yung situation ng dalawa nating alaga na di nakaka inspire hahaha! Anyway, to be honest I'm not a very good storyteller, just gave this a try kasi i was inspired to write, I had the concept, the plot, how everything will happen in mind that i cant get out kasi i wanted to see how the story will go and mejo okay pa kasi before. Eventually, life happens and I rarely have time to update, hanggang sa parang nawalan na ko ng gana narin. Kaya, instead of leaving this story incomplete, unfinished, I decided to put it on hold nalang, so whenever inspiration struck i can write it down (yes id o write it down on a piece of paper or more) and have it typed and posted, but I guess once in a blue moon narin mangyari yun, years na yata yung last. So I would like to apologize and ask for your understanding narin. Marami parin naman writers na sumusulat ng JE FFs and are very active sa pag update, diba? Kaya for the meantime sakanila nalang muna haha or basahin niyo nalang ulit mga all time fave nating FFs from TRB, Sookie, OrangeandBlue, wedancedancedance, Proofyroofy, julielmolovin, iammind, iheartsnickerz, wanderwonderingmind, DerpHerp, BundokPuno, etc., kasi ako ganon, I seem to never get tired of rereading all of their stories. ^_^

All This Time (Chapter 14)

Chapter 14 - Making decisions in a Sunday morning Unedited. "If two people are meant to be together, eventually they'll find their way back." - x - x - x - It's a sunny Sunday morning. Julie and Maqui were at her balcony having breakfast and enjoying the morning sun. She decided to meet Maqui during breakfast at her condo instead of going out to meet at dinner somewhere else. To be honest, she didn't want to attend mass with her father because she didn't want to risk seeing the Magalonas at church, especially Elmo after how the Merger party ended with the two of them. So she made an excuse, even though she knew how wrong it is, she told her Dad that she was going to meet with Maqui, to inform her about what was discussed at the meeting of Elmo and her team the previous day that she purposefully did not attend because she knew that Elmo was going to be there, and she still hadn't figured out why she kissed him. She fully intended to kiss him on the cheek but after seeing the look on his face when they both heard Aiden calling for her, she wanted to ease any discomfort he felt at that moment, and so she kissed him, a full blown kiss, which made her thought how much she was enjoying it and how much she didn't want to stop...ever. But that train of thought is what made her stop, so she did. "Julie.... Jules.. hey.." "Huh?" "Kanina pa kita tinatawag, naka tulala ka diyan. Okay ka lang ba?" Maqui asked. "Yeah I'm okay. Sorry I have a lot on my mind." "I can tell...are you going to share?" "Maybe... next time. Fill me in on what happen sa meeting with the FMCC team. Anong itinerary, time line ng project, designs, etc." "Well, you already know that both teams are going to work side by side with this project. Since maigsi nalang time natin until the deadline that both the CEOs of SJC and FMCC gave you and Elmo, we've all decided to split into two groups. The first group will go out of town to look for materials that would make this project a unique one, and inspiration for our artists/designers narin, so they are going to be in the first group. The second group will stay here in Manila and head to FMCC and SJC to foresee things from here." Maqui finished. "I see. So that means Yassi, Diva, Sef, Enzo and Derrick will be on the first group. Who else?" "me, Elmo and you will also be on the first group." "Teka, bakit pati ako?" "Well, since sainyong dalawa ni Elmo in-assign 'tong project na 'to, dapat lang na kasama kayo, and I quote: to foresee things, and to be hands on in this project." Julie had to roll her eyes on that, she had a hunch who said that. "Why didn't you tell me about this yesterday? I would rather stay here." "Kasi nga po sabi mo you were going to spend some quality time with your fiancé and to not disturb you with anything." Julie pursed her lips with that. She did say that, and did had went out with Aiden yesterday to ease her guilty conscience of what she did, but she wouldn't call what she and Aided did "quality time" when all he did was, either, watch his game or focus his attention on his phone. For short, she almost died of boredom. Sighing, Julie caved "Alright, fine. But why are you going? Pinilit ka din ba ni Elmo?" "No, I volunteered. Naisip ko na baka kailangan mo ang bff mo by your side." Maqui answered with a grin. "Talaga lang ah? If I know gusto mo lang maka libre ng bakasyon. Libre na, paid pa." "Ay, grabe siya! Ikaw lang naman iniisip ko." "Oo na lang Maq (laughs). Kailan alis natin? and where are we going?" "Since, gahol na tayo sa oras, gusto ni Elmo as soon as possible makaalis na tayo so napag decide ng team na aalis tayo tonight." "Tonight?! Bakit hindi nalang bukas ng umaga?" "Elmo wants to start as early as tomorrow morning, kung tomorrow morning tayo aalis, depende din sa traffic, darating tayo sa destination natin late na, and pagod sa byahe. Dahil pagod sa byahe syempre mag papahinga pa so late na tayo makakapag start kaya mas better na Sunday night para di na rin ganon ka-traffic." "He has a good point. Speaking of destination, san tayo pupunta?" "I don't know, ang sabi lang ni Elmo it's a surprise daw." "I hate surprises." Julie mumbled loud enough for Maqui to hear her. "Since when?" "Since...(sigh) never mind." Julie said mildly shaking her head. "Are you sure you're okay Jules?" Maqui asked worriedly. "I'm fine Maq, don't worry about me." "Only if you're sure." "I am." Julie smiled before sipping her cup of coffee. "Oh, before I forgot. Congratulations on your engagement! Lalapitan sana ka namin nila Dianne sa party kaso, it's either may kausap ka or mawawala ka." Maqui ended giggling. "Thanks." Julie answered forcing a smile. "Speaking of which, ang close niyo masyado ni Elmo during nung dance niyo ha? I mean literally close." "Huh? What are you talking about?" Julie looked away, trying to hide the blush that creeped out in just the mention of that moment. "Yung dance mo with Elmo. Parang deja vu nga eh, felt like nasa 4th year college ulit tayo. Remember, nung Party before grad? Elmo asked you to dance when a slow song started to play. Parang ganon kayo ni Elmo the other night. One inch nalang yata pagitan niyo eh. Mabunggo or matulak lang isa sa inyo magdadampi na mga labi niyo." Julie blushed profusely. "Stop it Maq! Hindi ganon yun." "Whatever." Maqui dismissed, "Anyway, how does it feel like? Having him back?" Maqui smiled knowingly at her. Julie sighed, deeply. She was wondering when she was going to ask her about Elmo. Only her best friend can jump from one topic to another without missing a beat. "It's a surprise, that's for sure. Overwhelming, unexpected, annoying, but I'm glad, happy that he's back, that we saw each other again after a very long time. "I can understand that, I missed having him around as well." Julie nodded in acknowledgement, looking out the balcony. Waiting for the next question. "Do you still have feelings for him?" Aand there it is, THE question she's not ready to answer. Yet. "I care for him deeply..." Julie decided to hold off from giving her best friend a straight answer. For as long as she can. "I know you still care for him, but that's not what I'm asking." "What are you asking then?" Julie watched as Maqui stared at her. Studying her. "Do you still love him? No, wait, let me rephrase that question. Are you still in love with him?" And that is all it took, that final blow to make her defenses crumble. "I'm already engaged to be married to Aiden, Maq. I already said yes." "I know that Jules, but ever since he came back, something changed. Madalas ka nang tulala, and parang nag li-low ka na kay Aiden." Julie sighed, "To answer your question Maq, I honestly don't know. Pero tama ka, some things have changed, and I don't know what to do." "I'm your best friend Jules, you can always talk to me. Come on tel me what's on your mind." "He's always on my mind Maq. At first I thought dahil lang sobrang na-miss ko siya sa tagal naming hindi nagkita, that I missed his company, our friendship, and that I wanted to make up for lost time, but lately....." Maqui reached out to touch her hand, which made Julie grateful that she was there with her, as she tries to figure things out. "Lately, it's different, I don't know how to explain it. I feel like I made a terrible mistake, saying yes to Aiden's proposal. Before Elmo cam back, masaya na ko, content na ko sa buhay ko, pero after seeing him again..... I don't know Maq, I don't know what to do...." Julie took a deep breath before she continued again. "I saw the way he looked at me after my Dad announced my engagement with Aiden sa party, the he looked that night, seeing the devestation in his eyes..... it broke my heart Maq." Julie ended as a sob escaped her. Maqui stood up, went to her side and sat on the chair beside her as she tries to comfort her. "Hey, come here.. Sshh, it's okay." Julie pulled herself together, wiping away the traitorous tears that escaped her. "I'm okay," Julie forced a smile, "it's just a little overwhelming, especially after the kiss we shared at the party..." "Wait, what? What kiss?" Maqui asked in disbelief "Di ko pa ba nasasabi sayo?" Julie asked coyishly "No, you haven't. Spill." "Where do you want me to start?" "Start at the beginning." "Okay. Well, you already know when he got back and what happened after that." Maqui nodded in acknowledgement, "Go on." "Remember the day Elmo was at SJC with his friends and they were moving the table from the storage room to his office?" "Yeah, how could I forget." Maqui answered with a knowing glint in hi eyes. Julie had to roll her eyes at that. "Anyway, that night he asked me if I wanted to go out and have dinner with him and I said yes. We had dinner and talked about stuff we missed, what happened with our lives after college. After we left the restaurant, we went to get dessert." Julie smiled in remembrance of that night with Elmo. "He bought ice cream at a covenience store and drove to the park where we shared it, and like we always do back in college, watched the stars." Julie can feel Maqui looking at her intently. "Tell me what you're not saying." She sighed, and answered her. "We...we were talking, he was telling me about this quote that he learned after his Dad died, I think his Dad told him about it before he died, I could see it in his eyes, 'Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pour through and shine down on us to let us know they are happy.' It's a quote by Sydney Powers Shaw, I was moved by it that I looked it up the next day." Julie looked up at Maqui and smiled at her. "We had a moment after that, we were looking into each others eyes, and then he started saying something but my phone rang and interrupted him. Twice. We lost the moment." "Who was calling you?' Maqui asked. "It was Aiden." Julie answered with a resigned look on her face. They were both silent for while. "Tell me what you're thinking. What's on your mind?" "I felt guilty..." Julie said looking at her wringing hands. "Sweetie, it's okay. Aiden was away and you were probably missing him and then suddenly your first true love appears, and old feelings surfaces, normal lang yan." "No, it's.. it's not like that.. it's..." Julie looks away embarrased. "Hey, Julie, you can tell me, I will be the last person to judge you." "it's the other way around." "What do you mean?" "I felt guilty. I was about to answer the call, but I felt guilty to do it with Elmo there. It felt like I was cheating on Elmo not Aiden. To be honest during the duration of that night, I haven't thought of Aiden, because I was looking forward to seeing Elmo and spending time with him." "Can I ask you a question?" "Go ahead." "If you aren't engaged or in a relationship with Aiden when Elmo showed up again, do you think you'd be with Elmo?" "I can't answer that. I don't even know how Elmo feels about me." "Oh don't play coy with me. Alam nating lahat na he always had feelings for you since the first time he laid eyes on you." Maqui finished teasingly. "Whatever. I still don't know. What I know is, when I'm with him, everything feels right. I feel blissfuly content. "You're still in love with him. I can see it in your eyes. When you talk about him. That hasn't changed." Julie had to look at her best friend in that moment, she was smiling at her softly. Julie had to look away again, she didn't her best friend to see the storm brewing inside, the indecisions that she was battling with herself that has her vulnerable in her eyes as she tell her what she had to say. "It doesn't matter anymore. I'm engaged to Aiden and I do love him." Julie said weakly. "I know that, but you're not in love with him. You're in love with Elmo." Maqui smiled ate sympathetically. Julie looked at her best friend, with resolution in her eyes. "I know, that's why I need to move on from him. I need to let him go." - x - x - x- A/N: Hello dear readers! Life has gotten in the way, like it always does.  I will try my very best to finish this story within the year, hopefully. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Housemate 34

'No. I don't need that.' I told Elmo for the hundredth time. We began shopping at the city at one in the afternoon and everytime we hop into another shop, Elmo would just pick something beautiful and expensive and declares he would buy it for me. But I kept saying no because I really don't need another bag or jewelry or the evil stiletto shoes. Which clearly made him upset. 

  'Oh come on. Are you seriously getting mad because I won't let you buy me something?' He is truly exasperating. He's been ignoring me for the past hour and would continue to walk at shops like he doesn't have any company.

  'Elmo!!' 

  'What.' He snapped, turning to face me. 

  'Buti naman marunong ka pang magsalita.' I said, causing him to roll his eyes. 'Bakit ka ba kasi nagagalit dyan?' 

  'Because.' He answered. 

  'Because what?'

  'Just because.' He said, walking away again. 

  'Elmo!!' I snapped, now starting to get irritated at his childishness. 'I swear pag hindi ka umayos lalayasan kita!' 

  That made him stop and turn to face me. I smiled inside. 'Are you going to tell me now why you're acting that way, honey?' I asked again, mentally reminding myself to make it sound sarcastic. 

  He stood infront of me for a while, just staring, before finally uttering a complete sentence. 'Because you won't let me buy you anything. You just asked me to buy you a box of cookies earlier and that's not even expensive!' 

  I rolled my eyes. Now I knew what this is all about. 'So this is about your ego, isn't it? Wanting to buy me expensive limited edition stuffs that I don't even need.' 

  'What? No!' He said. I raised an eyebrow at him, challenging him to deny it again but he didn't even flinch or something. 'You don't believe me?' 

  'Fine. Then what's the reason, honey?' 

  He sighed, looking at me again with those expressive eyes he's been having from time to time. 'I just want to do something for you okay? Call it ego but I just want to satisfy you. I want to give you something. I want you to have something that came from me. Things that will remind you of me. I.. I just..' He groaned. 'You know what? Just forget it. Di mo naman ako maiintindihan.' 

  Remind me how to breathe again because that. That was something. Heck, I don't want to expect something from Elmo but he would just keep pushing me to do so. I mean, is it really possible? Is it really possible for him to even like me back? 

  I smiled hopefully as I stare at him walking away from me, probably just scouting another shop, and quickly jogged beside him. 

  'I wanted to have this particular shoes from a shop.' I said, smiling when he stopped to look back at me. 

  'Where?' He asked too quickly, looking ecstatic and excited that made me laugh so I hastily dragged him to the store I saw earlier. 

  'You want a sneaker?' He said, looking baffled for a while. But when he saw me nodding happily at him, his face immediately softened. 

  He smiled. Finally! After an hour of him being mad at me, he finally smiled. I can't believe I actually missed his smile for an hour. 

  'Then let's get you shopping, honey.' He beamed, excitedly dragging me inside.

'I can't believe you bought me ten pairs!!' I glared at him while he sip coffee with a grin, looking satisfied with himself. He is such a child! I specifically told him that i just wanted a pair and I thought he listened but he didn't. 

  'I was going to buy you a pair.' He laughed. 'But you tried other shoes on so I bought them. And don't tell me you didn't like them because I saw your face when you tried the others as well.' 

  'A-ano naman kung gusto ko din yung ibang designs? You practically wasted a lot of money, Elmo.' 

  'It's not a waste if it makes you happy, Julie. I can and I will buy you the whole store if thats what will make you happy.' His face now serious. 'Y-you're happy. Right?' 

  I sighed. I swear he say the sweetest thing in the world sometimes. 

  'I am happy.' I smiled genuinely, thus, making him smile widely. 'But sobrang dam-' 

  'You're happy. End of story.' He cut. Holding my free hand to squeeze it before continuing to eat, smiling all throughout our meal. 

  'Let's go grab some takeout first before going to your friends house.' Elmo said right after we hopped into the car. 'Pizza okay?' 

  'Yup.' I smiled, putting my seatbelt on. 

  We drove for about twenty minutes, excluding the time when we bought some pizza and pasta as well, before finally reaching Cholo's house. It looks very cozy with the colors white and brown and the size was just right for their new family.

  Elmo grabbed the food we brought while I took some shopping bags I have for them, especially for Sophia. We hopped off of the car, pushing the doorbell to let them know our arrival. I heard Cholo shout inside before the door opened, revealing him holding a milk bottle. 

  'Julie!' He greeted, hugging me. 'Glad you can make it.' 

  'Of course. Excited na kong mameet si Sophia.' I grinned. 

  He greeted Elmo with a man hug as well then letting us come inside. He led us into the living room where I saw Sophie on the floor with thick layers of comforter beneath her. I squealed, catching her attention. 

  'Cholo she's adorable!!' I beamed, making my way to hold her only to be stopped by another girly shriek. 

  'Julie!!!' 

  I knew that highpitched voice too well. I laughed, turning to see Krisha practically bouncing up and down the floor. She immediately rushed to my side and enveloped me with her famous bone crashing hug. 

  'I missed you so much!!' She cried. 'I'm so sorry!' 

  'I missed you too Krisha. And don't worry about it. I understand you guys.' I said, feeling my own tears as well. She broke the hug, revealing her snot face to me. I laughed. 'You look awful!' 

  'Thanks for saying it out loud, Jules.' She rolled her eyes playfully. 

  'Oh. Oo nga pala. This is Elmo. Asawa ko.' I introduced after Elmo stood beside me. He held me by my waist before holding out his free hand to Krisha.

     'Pleasure to meet you.' Elmo smiled. 

  Krisha took his hand with wide eyes and shook it. 'Ohmygod. It's true! You married the Elmo Magalona!!' 

  'Krisha please. Wag mo na dagdagan kayabangan nito.' I groaned. 

  'Thanks for the compliment, honey.' Elmo chuckled beside me. 'We brought some food by the way. Julie mentioned na were going to have dinner here.'

  'Oh yes. Thank you. We were actually grilling some barbecues at the back.' Krisha said. 

  'Can I help?' I asked her, but deeply inside, I just want to snuggle with the baby playing inches away from me. 

  'No thanks, Julie.' She laughed. 'I know you'd rather spend time with Sophie there.' 

  'Well you can't blame me. Ang cute cute niya!' 

  'Go on. Kami na ni Krisha bahala sa food. We'll just call you both pag ready na.' Cholo said, leaving me and Elmo with the baby. 

  I quickly removed my shoes, stumbling a bit, to get into the sheets with Sophie. I barely heard Elmo laughing behind me telling me to be careful since my whole senses was focused on the baby. I tied my hair into a bun swiftly and finally leaning to kiss Sophie's cheeks. 

  'Hi babyyy!' I called too sweetly. She focused her big eyes on me making me giggle. 'I'm your aunt Julie!' I said as she continue to stare at me. 

  'May balak ka bang ipakilala ako?' I heard Elmo say, stepping on the sheets as well barefooted. 'Hi there little angel. I'm your uncle Elmo. Aunt Julie's gorgeous husband.' He said, grinning down at Sophie. 

  'Wag ka ngang magsinungaling sa baby! Gorgeous? More like hideous. Right baby?' I laughed, rubbing my nose on Sophie's cheeks. 

  Elmo laughed as well, turning Sophie's attention to him. 'Hey angel, do you think uncle Elmo's pogi?' He asked, smiling down at her, pinching her nose softly than made her release a happy squeak on her tiny lips. 

  'See? She thinks I'm pogi!' He laughed. 

  'Ang duga! Bakit sakin hindi siya tumatawa??' I complained, looking at Sophie's happy face. She reached for Elmo with her tiny hands and he gladly took her in his arms. I smiled. 'You know how to carry a baby?' 

  'Oo naman. I have lots of baby cousins before and I always help at taking care of them every time they visit for the weekend.' He said, kissing Sophie's cheeks and making her squeal again. 

  Hours went by like that. Us playing with Sophie, doing our best to make her squeal and laugh. Elmo was the one who caused her to do so of course and him being the arrogant husband he is, shoves it in my face that Sophie likes him more than me. Now I can't help but to think how great a father Elmo would be someday. 

  I heard another happy shriek coming from Sophie and saw her slapping Elmo's face lightly with a big smile on her face that made me laugh. She would continue on shrieking whenever Elmo made up a funny face and would sometimes look at me like she wants me to do it as well. We practically end up doing funny faces for her. But we stopped when a flash of light caught our attention. 

  'Sorry! Ang cute nyo kasing tingnan eh.' Krisha laughed holding a camera on her hand. Crap. I forgot that she was a photographer. 'Hey don't worry. Hindi ko ikakalat to.' 

  'Can you give me a copy?' Elmo smiled, standing up with Sophie in his arms.

  'Of course.' She said. 'Tara. Dinners ready!' 

  'I'll hold her!!' I screamed, carefully snatching Sophie from Elmo and following her mother into the dining room. 

  The dinner lasted for two hours I think. An hour for eating and an hour of chatting. I was the one who put the little angel to sleep while Elmo helped in cleaning up the table. When I am completely sure that Sophie's already asleep, I carefully placed her on her crib, kissing her goodnight before going downstairs where I saw them already done with their work. 

  'Are you guys really planning to stay here?' I asked. 

  'We're not yet sure, Jules.' Cholo said. 'Siguro magstay muna kami dito for awhile para na din makapag ipon. But were still undecided kung dito na talaga kami titira.' 

  I sighed. 'If it's about the money you owe me, forget about it. Bumalik na kayo sa Pinas.' 

  'As much as we like, we can't just forget what we did to you, Julie.' Krisha smiled. 'We owe you so much and were very sorry.' 

  'I'm going to miss you guys.' I hugged them. 

  'You can visit us anytime. Same goes for us.' Krisha said, hugging me back. 'Take care okay?' 

  I nodded. 'Contact me lagi ha? And video call! I'm gonna miss Sophie so much.' 

  'We know. Don't worry, iuupdate ka namin lagi.' Cholo smiled before turning to Elmo. 'Please take care of Julie for us. Alam ko minsan hindi babae to but she's a softie. Iyakin masyado.' He laughed making me smack his head. 'Ouch! See? Ang lakas masyado.' 

  'I am well aware of that. Macho talaga ang asawa ko.' Elmo said, grunting after I elbowed him which only made him laugh even more. 

  We said our goodbyes for the tenth time before finally going inside the car to drive back to the hotel. 

  'Let's grab some ice cream on the way.' Elmo said looking at me so I just nodded. I was completely aware of him peeking a glance at me from time to time while he is driving so I told him I was fine. 

  'Don't be sad, Julie.' 

  'I know. Sobrang mamimiss ko lang talaga sila. Lalo na si Sophie.' 

  He chuckled. 'Me too.' 

  'Not as much as I will.' 

  'You're such a competitive wife.' He said, making me laugh. 'You really like kids don't you.' 

  'I freaking adore them! If I can adopt a hundred, I probably will.' I said, laughing at how Elmo's head snapped really quick to look at me. 

  'Are you serious?' He laughed, the throaty one that made me laugh as well.

  'Oo naman!' 

  He shook his head, turning the car right and parking it infront of an ice cream shop. 'I think I better save more money then.' He said, making me confused.

  'What?'

  'Well first I have to find a house big enough for our hundred kids. I know I have a lot of money, but what if they go to college all together? Then theres the clothes, foods, personal stuffs. And to think I have to buy a hundred car for each of them.' He laughed, then turning to look at me with a serious face he's trying to make, but fails. 'You better get a job if too if you want a hundred kid woman.' 

  'Wh-whaat?' I am hundred percent aware that I looked like a wide-eyed, open mouthed baby in front of him. He just laughed at me, holding my chin to close my mouth. 

  'You think I'll let you have babies with another man?' He smirked. 'Uh-uh. Not gonna happen honey.' 

  My mouth dropped. Again. And he laughed. Again. But this time, he didn't held my chin to close them. Instead, he killed me. I mean not literally because I felt like dying when he closed the freaking space between us. And instinctively, I closed my eyes. 

  Then I felt it. His lips on mine. He kissed me. I mean, he is kissing me! He is kissing me without the people we need to pretend to. He is kissing me without the prying eyes his world has. He is kissing me the first time alone and in our honeymoon. He is kissing me! Just Elmo and Julie in the scene. My head is in frenzy. 

  I don't even know if I am kissing him back or something. 

   He broke the kiss after a while, staring back at my eyes like he was seeing through me. 'I'll give you hundred kids if that's what will make you happy. Only I can give it to you.' He smiled, the one that I love and the one that makes my heart flutter. 'You're stuck with me, Mrs. Magalona.'

Housemate 33

The flight was delayed for an hour so I took that opportunity to make the chicken adobo Elmo was asking for. He went down to tell me that news and that he will be taking a nap for awhile.

   After I finished cooking, I checked the time and saw that we still have an hour and a half before Elmo’s staff pick us here at the island. I was just about to wake Elmo up when I saw him entering the kitchen.

   ‘Hey.’ I smiled at him. ‘Let’s eat first. Nagluto na ko ng lunch.’ I placed the dish on the table, laughing at how Elmo’s face lit up when he saw it.

   ‘It smells great! Thanks, Julie.’ He smiled genuinely before digging in.

   'Eat slowly. Para ka namang ginutom ng matagal.’ I chuckled while getting myself some of the dish.

   'Don’t judge me. Nagutom lang ako sa pagtulog ko.’

   'Really?’ I smirked. 'Or masarap lang talaga ang luto ko?’

   Elmo smiled back with mischief in his eyes as he look at me. 'I’ll have to answer that after I finish eating. Baka mamaya agawin mo nanaman tong kinakain ko eh.’

   'Ah so balak mong laitin ang luto ko pagkatapos?’

   'Hindi ahh!’ He laughed. 'By the way, thanks for packing my stuffs.’

   'It’s nothing. Yun nga lang ginawa ko buong trip ehh.’

   'And you also cooked us a great lunch.’

   I smiled. 'Ahh thanks for finally admitting that my cooking skills are great.’

   'Not as great as mine.’ He laughed, making me roll my eyes at him. 'You ready for New York?’

   'Since the last three hours.’ I replied while he give me an amused smile.

   'Is that so?’ He grinned. 'Then let’s go and enjoy the rest of the trip, honey.’

  'Shit.’ I said right after getting out of the jet. I heard Elmo chuckle beside me and saw that he was laughing at me. 'What?’

   'Typical Julie. You’re first ever word here at New York was a curse word.’ He laughed. 'I’m glad it wasn’t directed at me though.’

   I rolled my eyes at him and continued to curse at my head. It was freezing here and even though I had a jacket on, it was not really helping.

   'What time is it here, Moe?’

   'Around six in the evening.’ He said as he place a hand at my back to guide me outside. He briefly stopped for a moment causing me to look at him.

   'What?’

   'You’re shivering.’ He said, eyes full of concern as he look down on me. I saw him quickly taking off his thick and long coat but I stopped him.

   'No! I’m okay. Naka-sweatshirt ka lang. Mas lalamigin ka.’ I told him, clearly aware he’ll freeze to death when he take his coat off.

   'I’m fine. You need it more th-’

   'Shut it, Moe. Let’s just get to the car quickly okay?’ I said, dragging him outside while he nags at me. A man was already waiting for us outside and he hurriedly guided us into the car not looking oblivious of the fact that I am freezing, I quickly muttered a thanks to him before he shut the car door.

   I settled at the warmth inside and sighed, grateful for the heat. But when I realized that that the atmosphere was too eerie, I turned to look at my husband and was confused to see that he was glaring at me. What the hell is wrong with him?

   'What’s wrong?’ I voiced out my thought.

   'No. What’s wrong with you?!’ He snapped at me and I nearly flinched at his tone.

   ’M-me??’

   'Yes!! What the hell, Julie! I told you to wear the coat but you just walked out to freeze yourself to death!’

   'Why are you shouting at me?? I didn’t take it because you needed it more!’

   'No I don’t!! I’m used to this kind of climate and you’re not! It’s a good thing Rey was already waiting for us with the car because if not, you could have been sick the whole day!’

   I stared at him shocked and confused. I mean, I guess he’s right but why the hell is he so mad? Uggh. I hate it when he’s mad. If before I didn’t care if he was mad at me or not, well not anymore. I hate that I care. I hate that I keep on falling for him everyday. And I hate how hard it is to keep it to myself.

   'You look pale.’ I heard him say, softly this time.

   'I-I’m fine.’

   'You’re not.’ He said, no, stated. As if he’s a hundred percent sure. He surprisedly grabbed both of my hands and locked them with his. 'They’re freezing.’ He said, now blowing them to keep them warm.

   I was flushed. Very flushed that I can feel my whole body heating up at that mere gesture my so called husband was doing.

   'Th-thanks.’

   'No worries.’ He smiled, still continuing to warm my hands. We got into the hotel after about ten minutes and Elmo still managed to keep my right hand warm when he intertwined it with his hand and tucked them into the right pocket of his coat. I blushed again.

   'Better?’ He smiled down at me, while I just managed to give him a nod. It’s the best. I thought, just walking beside him in the lobby, hands intertwined.

   I gratefully sighed when we got into our room. God I feel tired. The suite Elmo got was beautiful, spacious and very welcomy, if thats even a word, that I almost ran into the couch and rest for the entire night. Elmo might seem to notice that that’s why he dragged me into the bedroom there with a huge bed.

   'You can rest for a while here.’ He chuckled when I quickly jumped into the bed and grabbed the fluffy pillow beside me. 'I made a reservation at a restaurant near at 8. Were going to have dinner there.’ He smiled, walking inside and sitting beside me.

   I tried to move into a sitting position as well but he stopped me. Pushing me back into the comfort of the soft sheets.

   'Don’t. Just rest for a while. I’ll wake you up after an hour.’ He said. Tucking me under the sheets, making me feel more sleepy. 'Are you capable of getting ready for half an hour?’

   I nodded at him as I feel my eyes slowly closing. I briefly heard him laugh and the last thing I remember was the light kiss on my forehead before I completely give into my sleep.

I woke up at Elmo’s voice calling my name, slowly opening my eyes, it immediately landed on the good looking guy sitting beside me.

   'You have thirty minutes to get ready.’ He said, smiling down at me. I pushed myself on a sitting position and observed him. I saw that his hair was tousled but his facial hair was cleanly shaven. He clearly just got out of the shower but still looks really hot. His clothing is also hot. He is wearing a black tux and dark blue v-neck shirt underneath making it look less formal. God he looks so perfect.

   'Done checking me out, honey?’ He smirked, looking down at me with playful eyes earning him a glare. He just laughed at me again, standing up to leave. 'I’ll wait outside.’ He said, closing the door to give me time to get ready.

   'Oh you are sooo gonna check me out as well, honey.’ I laughed, dragging myself inside the bathroom for a quick shower.

   I mentally gave myself a pat in the back while I was getting a dress out of my luggage. I excitedly put it on before looking in the mirror. Perfect. I smiled, looking at me with a sexy dark blue dress that hugged my body till my waist before flowing out and reached just inches above my knee. I was glad I brought this dress because I was so gonna get back at Elmo tonight.

   Right. Am I actually thinking of flirting with him?! What the hell?

   No. I am just doing this to get back at him for earlier. Yes. That’s why I am curling my hair right now. Also why I am wearing this stupid five inches black heels. And why I am putting more effort in making myself look good. Yes. This is all because of getting back at hi-

   Oh screw it. No. This is because I want Elmo to notice me. I want him to tell me I’m beautiful. Yes I want him to look at me the way he looked at Andi when we were having dinner with her and Jake. I want him to freaking fall for me like I was falling for me. Or maybe, just maybe, I want him to love me. Like how I love him.

   'If it’s only that easy, Julie.’ I sighed before smiling at my reflection on the mirror. 'Just enjoy the night, Julie Anne.’ I told myself before walking out of the room.

   There, standing beside the huge glass window is Elmo. Looking rather raggedly handsome with his hair undone. He’s on the phone again, talking to someone that’s why he didn’t notice me walking to him.

   'We’re coming back the next day. Yes, it’s sure. Maybe. Yes, know. I’ll call you okay? Bye, Ands.’

   Andi? Again? Ladies and gentlemen, my night just got ruined. Why was he talking to her again? Is she the reason why we are going home earlier on our vacation? Did Elmo lie about it being work related? It hurts. Hell, it hurts.

   'Julie!’ He called. He was completely stiff as a pole standing there while his eyes scan all over me. 

    'W-wow.’ He cleared his throat. 'I-i mean. Uhh. You, you look great.’ He laughed nervously while scratching the back of his neck. Clearing his throat again, he composed himself, looked at my eyes and smiled.

   'You look beautiful.’

   Ladies and gentlemen, I take it back. My night just got un-ruined.

   'You done checking me out, honey?’ I smirked at him, doing what he did earlier at me.

   He laughed at what I did, and his laugh lasted for a while as well, before he grabbed me gently by my waist.

   'So you did this on purpose to get back at me did you my wife?’ He smirked, his face full of amusement.

   'No.’ I casually shrugged at him before leaning a bit closer to him. I also did not miss his quick intake of breath.

   'I am naturally this beautiful, honey.’ I shot back, feeling him tighten his grip on my waist. I gave him a smile although I am literally very nervous and going nuts inside. Where the hell did I get that confidence anyway?

   'I believe so too, honey.’ He said, his voice now husky and his face now dangerously very close to mine. I inhaled his scent which made me go more crazy because of how good he smelled.

   He was inching more closer to me. Is he going to kiss me?? Oh god that thought made me go overdrive. I dragged my eyes on his pink lips. It was inches away from mine and I was itching to wrap my arms around his neck. And all of those was ruined, again, by a phone call.

   I looked at Elmo and saw his eyes bore into mine. His eyes held an emotion I can’t put a word into. He took out his phone without breaking our eye contact and answered it.

   'What?’ He asked, obviously irritated at whom it was. I laughed inside. 'Yes. Were on our way.’ He quickly shoved his phone inside his pocket and sighed. 'It’s the restaurant.’ He tucked a stray hair behind my ear and smiled at me. 'You ready?’

   'Meron ba dung strawberry cheesecake?’ I asked, feeling very comfortable with him even though we almost kissed earlier.

   He laughed. 'Yes. And I think they serve the best desserts there.’

   'Then what are we waiting for?’

The place Elmo brought us was famous for their Italian cuisines, I figured much since he loves cooking Italian food. The atmosphere was great, the music the band was playing were very soothing and the smell of the food just made it perfect. 

  We literally just talked about everything in between eating our food. We tease, or more like, Elmo kept on teasing me about just everything and I just get all flushed about it wondering when the world turned completely upside down. But I loved all these changes. Every bit of it. I love how we can be comfortable with each other every time, no awkward conversations, nothing. Just us enjoying every moment together. That’s for me at least. 

  ‘So, did you like the place?’ This is my favorite here.’ Elmo smiled at me, drowning his wine within a second.  

  ‘Yeah. I kind of figured that since you love Italian.’ I answered him, scowling at how he fill his glass again with wine. ‘Are you trying to get drunk?’

  He laughed softly at me before leaning in to touch the wrinkled skin between my eyebrows. ‘Stop scowling at me, honey.’ He grinned. ‘Last glass ko na to. Promise.’ 

  ‘It better be. You’re driving and wala pa akong balak na mamatay.’ I glared, making him laugh more at my nagging so I just rolled my eyes and gestured someone to fetch us the bill since I have no idea if it’s really his last glass. A guy came to our table and placed the bill in front of me since Elmo and I was busy having a stare contest. He has this smug look on his face and a handsome smirk on his lips which caused me to do this stare contest with him. I can stare at Elmo’s face for eternity for all I care. 

  ‘Uhm, Ma’am?’ The waiter asked, making me want to smack him for ruining the moment. 

  ‘Honey, am I that gorgeous for you not to notice the poor guy here?’ Elmo laughed, finding it entertaining for him to embarrass me to the guy. ‘I’ll take that.’ He smiled at the waiter, getting the bill from the table.

  ‘J-julie??’ The guy called, making me and Elmo snap our eyes at him. I stared at the guy confused, thinking of how he knew my name. I know him. But I just can’t figure who he i-

  ‘Ohmygod. Cholo?!’

  ‘Julie!! I can’t believe your here!’ Cholo smiled, his eyes full of happiness and regret as they stare at mine. I can’t believe I almost did not recognize this guy. His face looked more mature now with his facial hair growing. He was the best guy friend ever since. Caring, gentle and very protective of me especially since the day my parents died. 

  I feel my eyes began to water as I stare at him. I missed him and I just can’t believe he did that to me. ‘Y-you..’

  He looked defeated. He carefully grabbed both of my hands and knelt. ‘Juls, I’m so sorry. I’m very very sorry sa ginawa ko sayo. I know mali yun and I don’t have the right to ask for your forgiveness pero gagawin ko pa din.’

  ‘Wh-why? Bakit mo ginawa yun? Alam mo ba ang nangyare sakin nung ginwa mo yun? God, Cholo I was homeless! Kahit yung pera ko sa bangko kinuha mo lahat!’ I said maintaining my voice within our table for us to not cause a scene.

  ‘Julie, I’m so sorry. I was wrong. I wasn’t thinking. Sobrang nagalala lang kami ni Krisha kasi I have an unstable job, marami na kaming utang na hindi nababayaran and 1 month na lang, lalabas na si baby. So out of impulse, I took your money away. I’m so sorry.’

  ‘8 months ng buntis si Krisha?? What the hell? Bakit hindi na lang kayo lumpait sakin??’

  ‘Julie I’m so sorry. I don’t really know why I did it. Hindi rin alam ni Krisha to nung una so when she found out sa New York, muntikan na kaming maghiwalay. She’s very sorry, Julie. We tried contacting you sa email mo and cell number pero wala kang reply.’ Email? Ohgod I forgot. The last time I checked that thing was months ago.

  ‘What happened? Bakit andito kayo sa New York?’ 

  ‘Kinuha kami ng mom ni Krisha after a week. We used your money to buy an apartment here and start a new life kasi ayaw ni Krisha gamitin yung pera ng parents nya. You know her.’ He smiled sadly. Yes, of course I knew. Even though Krisha’s parents were rich, she never asked them for their money. Her parents are great but Krisha just liked being independent. 

  ‘Julie, I’m really sorry. I deposit money at your bank account everytime I get paid. Mejo malaki na din yun pero wala pa sa kalahati yun ng kinuha ko. I’m trying my best to pay you Julie. Don’t worry.’ He smiled.

  ‘H-how about Krisha?’ 

   ‘She’s doing great. She gave birth last two weeks. Mejo gipit pa din kami sa pera dito lalo na may baby na kami pero we can manage. I just want to thank you Julie. And I’m really sorry.’

  I sighed. They’re the only family I got and I love the both of them. I guess I was just mad before because they left me. ‘It’s okay, Cholo. I guess, nagalit lang ako kasi iniwan nyo ko. I felt alone. Again.’ I smiled sadly. ‘Don’t worry about the money. Bayaran mo na lang ako pag kaya nyo na.’ 

  ‘Wh-what? Julie, no. Alam kong mabait ka pero. Pero we don’t deserve this.’

  ‘Cholo. Kayo na lang Krisha ang meron ako. I love you both. So please, kay baby na lang kayo magfocus ngayon. You can pay me pag stable na kayo.’

  ‘J-julie..’ He called, wiping his tears away. 

  ‘Y-yung baby.. Anong name niya?’ I asked slowly. I saw how Cholo’s eyes turned lovingly at the mention of her daughter. He smiled at me knowingly because he knew I adore kids.

  ‘Sophia Anne.’ He smiled. ‘I don’t know how it happened pero kasing kulit mo siya.’ He laughed, making me smack his head playfully before he envelop me with his hug. ‘I missed you, Juls.’ 

  I hugged him back. Genuinely grateful to have him back. ‘I missed you too.’ I said. And that’s when Elmo made us feel his presence. He coughed loudly causing us to break the hug and look at him. 

  ‘Oh. Cholo, this is my husband. Elmo.’ I introduced him, grabbing his free hand and squeezing it, looking apologetic at Elmo for forgetting to introduce him earlier.

  ‘H-husband??’ Cholo asked, wide eyed. ‘W-wait. I knew you looked familiar! Elmo Magalona?’

  Elmo stood up and raised a hand for a shake at Cholo. ‘Yes. Nice to finally meet you.’ Cholo gladly shook it and grinned down at me.

  ‘Lupet mo talaga, Jules.’ 

  ‘Shut up.’ I ignored him, standing up as well beside Elmo. He grabbed my waist and handed the bill to Cholo. ‘C-can I visit you guys tomorrow?’

  ‘Of course! Krisha will be happy. And I know you’ll love Sophie.’ He smiled. I handed him a card where he can contact me, hugged him goodbye, and left.

  ‘So he’s the famous Cholo huh?’ Elmo asked as he drive us back into the hotel. 

  ‘Yeah.’ I smiled. Very happy about the reunion with my friend. All the hate I felt towards them were gone. I’m just happy to have them back. 

  We got back at our suite just in time for me feel drowsy again so I quickly thanked Elmo for the dinner before heading to my room. I was just about to get inside when he stopped me. Grabbing my arm carefully.We just stood there and looked at each other eyes for some time. His eyes showing different emotions as they stare at mine. And those look gave me chills. They gave me butterflies. They drove me into the edge. It’s as if he is looking at a person he loves. 

  ‘M-moe?’ I called. Because it’s killing me to not know the reason why he is looking at me like that. Because I can’t point what it is he is trying to say with those beautiful eyes. 

  He smiled at me. The smile that will melt your insides more. That will make you fall in love more and more. 

  ‘You’re a great person, Julie.’ He said, his hand caressing my left cheek. ‘And I’m not just saying this because I’m your husband.’ He laughed softly. Kissing my forehead and whispering goodnight. 

  That ladies and gentlemen, is how I fell in love. More. And more.

Housemate 32

The night went perfectly well and everything was just the way a girl would dream her first date to be. An intimate dinner beside the calm sea, the cold but fresh breeze,  a romantic song playing on the portable speaker, and beautiful lights dancing around them in the dark night. Not to mention the food Elmo made was a killer.

  It was all perfect, too perfect that I might end up thinking everything is real. Or wish for it to become real. And it was scary. I was scared because whatever it is that is happening or going to happen, I know I’ll get hurt.

  ‘Julie?’ He called.

  I turned my head towards Elmo and saw him giving me a curious look. ‘W-why?’ I asked, returning his curious look at him.

   ‘You spaced out again. Kanina pa kita tinatawag.’ He said, amusement showing in his eyes. ‘Are you okay? Lagi na lang malalim iniisip mo.’

  ‘Wala. And ganda kasi nung dagat.’ I smiled. If he only knew what was going on my crazy mind.

  ‘Don’t worry. Pag may time ako, I’ll bring you here again.’ He smiled back, making me stare at him surprised.

  ‘T-talaga?’

  ‘Oo naman. I promise.’

  ‘Pano kung divorced na tayo?’ I asked him, even though I might end up regretting it later, I still did.

  ‘We have lots of time together, Julie.’ He smiled again, holding my hand for reassurance. ‘Don’t worry about it okay?’

    ‘Okay..’ I answered, feeling him squeeze my hand he was holding. ‘Thank you for the dinner, Moe. I loved it.’ I added, giving him a genuine smile.

  ‘You’re very much welcome, Julie.’ He said, standing up and dragging me with him. ‘But still, it’s not a complete date if we don’t watch a movie right?’ He grinned while leading the way back into the beach house.

  ‘Very typical. I wonder if this date also involves a scary movie so that I will get all scared and you’ll protect me from the monsters with your arms wrapped all around me.’ I raised a brow at him, making him stop to look back at me.

  ‘Oh Julie. You know me too damn much.’ He smirked, adding a wink after he saw my blush.

 I woke up in the morning, tucked in the bed inside my bedroom. The last thing I remember was me and Elmo watching a movie on the spacious living room here, how Elmo kept teasing me whenever I get scared, and how his arm wrap on my shoulders comfortably. I sighed, it felt nice how I seem to feel very comfortable around him.

  Puzzled on how I ended up here, I quickly went to the bathroom to wash myself and change my clothes. It was already eight in the morning so Elmo would probably want a breakfast when he woke up so I went straight to the kitchen. Only to find him there, busy preparing our breakfast with a sexy apron.

   ‘Good morning Julie.’ He beamed at me. ‘Come sit here. Malapit na tong maluto.’

  ‘ Bakit ang aga mong nagising? I was planning to prepare our breakfast.’ I said. Following him and sitting at the chair he pulled for me. The table was now covered with pancakes, eggs and some fresh orange juice, the only important thing missing was my bacons.

  ‘It’s a habit. I jog early in the morning at the beach whenever I come here.’ He answered while placing the mouthwatering bacons near me.

  ‘I see. Ako na lang magluluto ng lunch natin. Nakakahiya naman, ever since we got here ikaw lang nagluluto.’

  He chuckled. ‘Don’t worry about it, Julie. It’s my pleasure. Pero since nagoffer ka, can you cook your famous chicken adobo? I was kinda craving for it.’ He asked, a sheepish smile on his face.

  I smirked at him, amused at his request. ‘Talaga lang ah. To think nilait lait mo pa luto ko dati.’

  ‘Hey I took it back!’ He laughed. ‘Pleeease?’

  Can he just be more cruel? Why does he need to give me that pout and cute puppy look? I bit my cheeks inside to prevent myself from giving a wide smile. ‘Fine. I’ll cook your adobo.’

  ‘Yes!! Thanks, wifey!’

  ‘You’re welcome, Mosey.’

  ‘That’s not how you respond, wifey.’

  ‘What?’ I looked at him before stuffing my mouth with some pancakes.

  ‘When I call you wifey, call me hubby.’ He said, almost making me believe he was sincere when he looked so serious.

  ‘No way. I’m not calling you that. Baduy.’

  ‘Fine.’ He took a sip from his glass before talking again. ‘How about babe?’

  ‘Na-uh. Not happening.’

  ‘Why? You used to call your ex babe?’

  ‘No. I never had a boyfriend, Mr. Magalona.’ I said, making him dumbfounded. I smiled inside seeing how his mouth opened a bit and his eyes dilated.

  ‘Wh-what??’

  ‘You heard me.’

  ‘Seriously?’ I nodded. ‘Wow. I feel very honored.’ He grinned.

  ‘Honored ka dyan. Sapak gusto mo?’

  He laughed. ‘So ako pala first mo sa lahat. First kiss, date, boyfriend slash husband.’

  ‘And so?’

  ‘You’re very adorable. And with that I will now officially call you honey.’ He declared making me smile at how he said that declaration.

  ‘Akala ko ba babe? Bat naging honey?’

  ‘Wala lang. Mas cute ang honey eh. And because you’re cute, sweet, good for the heart and stuff, I’m going to call you honey. Very married din pakinggnan.’ He said seriously. ‘And I love honey.’ I looked at him stunned.

  ‘Wh-what?’

  ‘You know. I use honey instead of sugar sometimes, I love how it mix with other ingredients as well. It tastes amazing so I love it. You should try it sometimes.’

  Of course. Dream on, Julie.

  ‘Oo nga pala. I’m sorry to tell you this pero we need to go back to Philippines the next day. May nangyari kasi sa office kaya ayun. Mommy Dins said she was very sorry.’ Elmo said making me a bit sad. I loved the place and I was planning to stay here much longer than planned. But I guess it’s not happening.

  ‘It’s okay. Baka kaylagan ka na talaga dun.’ I gave him a reassuring smile.

  ‘I promise I’ll bring you here again.’ He smiled back. ‘Do you want to go shopping? I think mom will be expecting some souvenirs when we go back. Especially my sister.’

  ‘Sure. San tayo bibili?’

  ‘I was planning for us to stay at New York today. 5 hours lang naman ang travel time. Ateast we have all day tomorrow to explore the city.’ He looked at me, obviously anticipating my reaction. ‘What do you say?’ He grinned.

  ‘Freakin’ yes!!! Ohgod. You’re serious right??’ I said smiling widely at him, clearly excited since I haven’t been to New York. This is one helluva of a honeymoon.

  ‘Yes Julie. I am serious.’ He laughed at my excitement. I wonder if he found that either crazy or cute. ‘You better pack now coz we are leaving in two hours or so..’

  I didn’t get the chance to hear Elmo’s complete sentence since I squealed right after he said pack and ran as fast as I can to my room to start packing. I guess he was entertained at my reactions since I clearly heard him laughing when I bolted away from the table.

  I only brought two bags so it wasn’t that hard for me to prepare my things. I literally just stuffed all of my things on the bigger bag and kept my personal belongings on my handbag. I changed my pajamas into some jeans and shirt, smiling after checking the time on my wristwatch and realizing that it just took me half an hour to get ready. I was that excited.

  Grabbing my luggage, I went downstairs to place them on the couch when I heard Elmo still on the kitchen talking to someone on the phone. I walked inside, confused at why he was still in there and saw him doing the dishes. I am a horrible wife.

  ‘Yes. What time is it? … Okay, get here after an hour.’ He dismissed the call. I think it was his staff he was talking to.

  ‘I am so sorry!!!’ I said, guilty as hell.

  ‘Julie! Bakit ka nagsosorry?’ He chuckled, wiping his hands on a clean towel. He moved away from the sink and I saw that the dishes were already done.

  ‘Ughh. I was so excited I forgot the dishes.’ I groaned, covering my face with both hands. ‘Wala na kong natulong sa buong trip.’

  This is the most embarrassing thing ever. How could I forget Elmo? And the dishes? Not to mention I just realized that I literally did nothing the whole trip besides sleeping, eating, and relaxing.  

  ‘Hey, it’s okay.’ He laughed. Damn he’s not upset. And damn when did he become so gentle. ‘I still have an hour to get ready.’

  I removed my hands from my face to look at him and realized that he was already standing in front of me. I looked up at him since he was freaking tall and saw him smiling down at me. ‘You’re not mad?’

  ‘No, I’m not.’

  ‘Are you sure an hour is enough for you to get ready?’

  He grinned ‘Yes, I am sure.’

  ‘C-can I help?’

  ‘I’m fine, Julie. I’ll just take a quick shower and pack my stuffs.’

  I nodded. ‘Okay. How about you take your time in the shower while I pack your things?’ I suggested since I really really feel that I need to do something even though he’s not upset.

  ‘Julie. You don’t need to d-‘

  I stopped him and pushed him outside the kitchen since I’ll do what I suggested whether he agrees or not. ‘Come on, Moe. Wala din naman akong gagawin.’

  ‘Fine.’ He said, though I can sense him smiling.

  When we got to his room, Elmo handed me the bags he brought before he went inside the shower and shouting ‘Wag kang maninilip ahh!’ I just threw a shirt at him while he was laughing. I started packing Elmo’s stuffs after he got into the shower and it was a lot easier since everything was in order inside his room. I swear he is more organized than me. Not to mention I’m a girl.

  Placing the last set of shirts on the bag, I gently zipped it up, smiling down at the neat luggage on the bed. I was about to call out Elmo and tell him I was done when the bathroom door opened, letting my mind think about a lot of things. And some are very inappropriate I tell you. For about god knows how long, I was literally just glued on my feet, staring at Elmo whose only clothe was a towel wrapped under him while he was drying his hair with a smaller towel. When did the room get so freaking hot?

  ‘Julie? Julie!’

  I snapped out of it when I heard Elmo calling me, so I looked up at him and saw his smirk. ‘You okay? Kanina pa kita tinatawag. ‘He said, his smile getting even more bigger. Ughh.

  ‘I-I’ll just wait outside.’ I said, walking-no-running outside as fast as I can while the asshole laugh inside. I slammed the door close and gripped my crazily fast beating heart while fanning myself with my other hand.

  ‘Shit Julie, nagiging manyak ka naaa!’ I told myself while slapping my already flushed face.

Housemate (31)

I stirred on my sleep, hearing some noises inside the house. After waiting for it to go away, I lazily dragged myself up annoyed by the sounds coming from somewhere. I glanced at the bedside clock and realized I slept throughout the day after getting back from the main island earlier. 

  ‘Sino ba yung maingaaay?’ I whined, opening the bedroom door, surprised to see Elmo whose about to knock. He smiled at me and placed his hand down.

  ‘Good. You’re awake.’ 

  ‘Bat andito ka pa?’ I curiously asked while he curiously looked at me. 

  ‘What?’ 

  ‘Diba aalis ka ngayong gabi?’ 

  ‘Again, what?’ He asked back, and I noticed how his brows furrowed even more.

  ‘Diba sabi mo sakin kanina you have plans tonight? Why are you still here?’ I said, noticing his confusion fade a little.

  ‘You thought I was going out? Alone?’ 

  ‘Well, yeah… Hi-hindi ba?’ 

  He shook his head, amused. ‘You seriously think I will leave you here alone?’ he smiled. ‘Wait. Is that why you were upset earlier?’ 

  ‘Uhh.. Well.. I just thought na.. Na iiwan mo ko..’ I admitted. God Julie nakakahiya ka talagaa. 

  ‘Well I won’t.’ He laughed, handing me a big box. ‘Wear this and go down after. Sa may beach. I’ll wait for you.’ And with that he left, me standing there completely dumbfounded with a big box on my hand.

  I stared at my reflection one last time before going out of my room. I wore the beautiful blue summer dress that is inside the box Elmo gave me. I ran my hand over the fabric again to straighten the non visible folds and sighed. 

   Please, Moe. Don't make this harder for me. Glancing at my reflection briefly before going out. 

  I heard Elmo at the kitchen talking, probably on his phone, so I went there to check up on him. Stopping in an instant when I heard something.

  'Yes, Andi. Were good here. Yeah, I'll call you back. Sure, ofcourse. Okay. Bye, Ands.' He said before cutting the call. Way to go Elmo, thank you for ruining my day. 

  I waited for a short moment before revealing my presence at the kitchen where he was, rummaging the refrigerator for something. When he got what he needed, he carelessly shut the fridge with his right foot, looking up at me with wide eyes.

  ‘Julie! Ginulat mo naman ako.’ He said letting out a sigh but quickly forming a smile on his face. ‘You look great.’ 

  ‘Uhh, thanks.’ I blushed, the only thing I am best at whenever Elmo is around. ‘We’re drinking?’ I asked, eyeing the bottle of wine on his hand. 

  ‘Yepp.’ He smiled. The gorgeous sincere smile that makes my heart go thump. Why? Why do you do this?? Get a grip, Julie. This is a fake marriage!

  ‘Ahh. Ano ba occasion?’ I laughed nervously. ‘Bakit parang ang special naman ng dinner na to?’ 

  Elmo walked closer to where I was standing, the smile still not leaving his face. ‘Because my wife.’ He paused, holding up a bouquet of flowers I did not notice earlier, and giving it to me. ‘We are going on our first date.’

All This Time (Chapter 13)

Chapter 13 - Announcements and some other stuff Unedited. -x- -x- -x- Still wrapped in each other’s arms, Julie and Elmo were still swaying to the music, when it suddenly stopped and a clearing of the throat was heard from the speakers. 

They broke away from each other and directed their attention towards the stage. There they saw Nathaniel San Jose holding the microphone with Frank Magalona standing a few feet behind him.

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Can I have your attention please.” They heard Nathaniel say from the speakers, grabbing the attention of everyone in the ball room.

“I know you are all well aware that we had this ball or party, whichever you want to call it, for a reason. Well, after finding out earlier this evening of a wonderful news, make that two.”

Elmo looked at Julie’s reaction, she looked like she was panicking, which made him wonder why. Instead of voicing out his concern, he reached for her hand, which made her look up and gave it a squeeze. Letting her know that he was there for her. 

Julie looked and smiled at him in return before she turned her attention back to the stage. He, on the other hand, looked at her for a moment, studying her. She’s been very calm ever since she came to him to the bar and told him that he owed her a dance, but her eyes bellied her expression. If her demeanor and facial expression was calm, her eyes told her a different story. They were a blaze with anger, which, to be honest, scared the shit out of him.He never intended to let her see what happened with the other girl, he got caught in the moment and with the amount of alcohol he consumed, it was not hard to get carried away. But seeing Julie earlier, automatically sobered him up.

“…I’d like to call my daughter Julie and Mr. Elmo Magalona on stage to join us first before the announcement.”

Turning his attention back to the stage, where Nathaniel and Frank was, he felt a hand wrapped on his elbow. He looked back and saw that it was Julie’s hand.“Let’s go.” He heard her say.

“Huh? Go where?” He asked, brows furrowed, as Julie started to drag him to the stage.b"Weren’t you listening? Pinapa akyat tayo ni Daddy sa stage bago yung announcement.“ She said, voice lowered so that only he could hear.

"Ahh, okay.” He answered as he started to match her pace.As they ascended the stage, they stood on the left side of Nathaniel, nodding at both of them.

“Now, I know you are all aware of the scandal that had happened in SJC. It was all over the news and the news papers. One the SJC’s board, a very close friend of mine stole money from the company, right under my nose. I haven’t realized until he disappeared along with it. And the news of bankruptcy started to mill around. Fortunately, the sons of an old friend of mine stepped up and offered a helping hand.”

“By proposing a merger with their company. It was a risk merging with them because as their company rose up, they became a strict rival. And now we will stand as one company, sister companies, if you may.”

“Please welcome FMCCs’ CEO/President Mr. Frank Magalona and his brother, CTO/Vice President Mr. Elmo Magalona!”

Everyone applauded the Magalona brothers. Handing the microphone to Frank, both men shook hands before Frank began with his speech.

“Thank you everyone, and to SJC for your warm welcome. And thank you Mr. San Jose. I would like to take credit for the idea of this merge, but I wasn’t the one who proposed and spear-headed it. That would be my brother Elmo."Upon hearing that statement, Julie looked at Elmo in wonder. As if sensing her looking at him, he looked at Julie and found her looking at him, and gave her a cheeky grin. Julie responded by smiling back at him.

"After he heard the news about SJC’s crisis he and his team started doing research, surveys, if ever the top two clothing company joined forces. Once he’s done his research he called a board meeting and presented his proposal, and I just sat there as he took over the meeting, and so there you have it.” Frank finished.

“Anyway, a new clothing line is coming out this summer that is under SJC & FMCC Co., that will be headed by a team from both SJC & FMCC.”“We, Nathaniel & I, along with the board members, have decided that the team from SJC will be headed by Ms. Julie Anne San Jose and from FMCC, will be my brother Elmo.”

“We will show you some of the designs that both teams have came up with.” “Before that,” Nathaniel interrupted. “I’d also like to make another announcement.”

At that Frank handed the microphone and patted the back of Nathaniel.

“Like I mentioned earlier, we have two reasons to celebrate. The first one being the merge of SJC & FMCC and the other, I just found out tonight.”

At this, Julie started to fidget. She wasn’t ready for everyone to find out about the engagement. 

“Aiden come and join us up here." 

And as she watched Elmo went off the stage with a blank expression, what she felt at that moment confused her even more. - x- -x- -x- Elmo was trying his best to be a good friend to Julie by being nice and friendly to her fiance Aiden. After the announcement, Aiden has been initiating a conversation with him, acting like he didn’t saw him getting it on with another woman, who was definitely NOT Julie in the men’s lavatory.

It irritated him knowing that Julie is going to marry that good for nothing, liar, philandering, cheating excuse of a man. He’s been trying to avoid him and Julie all night, because seeing them together, people congratulating them for their impending marriage irks him. 

Masyadong masakit, he thought.

Wanting to get away from Aiden and Julie, and peace and quiet, he escaped to the small garden just outside the ball room, because not even his friends was able to hide him from them. Now that he was able to get some alone time, he pondered on his thoughts of Julie and unfortunately, her fiance.

He couldn’t deny that he also had been like that, a womanizer, after he gave up on ever finding Julie again. He’s been with different women every night, but they all knew that it was only a one time thing, and without the expense of another person getting hurt. He’s never been a cheat and that’s a lot more than he can say for Aiden who has been in a relationship with Julie.

Anger gripped at him once again with the thought of someone cheating on Julie.

She deserves better than him.

Now this is where his dilemma comes in, what he’s going to do. She is still her best friend, and a good bestfriend that should do is tell her the truth about the guy he’s going to marry. But after what almost transpired on their so called ‘friendly date’ baka isipin niya na kaya niya ginawa yun ay for his own gain and hindi dahil yun yung tamang gawin. Kung di naman niya sabihin ng maaga,baka kapag she finds out the truth and nalaman niya na alam niya baka magalit din sakanya.

"Ano ba dapat kong gawin? Let it all play out?” He said to no one in particular.He walked toward a bench and sat down taling a deep breath while mulling things over.

He was looking up to the starry sky, he closed his eyes when he heard someone say behind him.

“Dito ka lang pala nagtatago, kanina pa kita hinahanap.”

“Why are you looking for me?”

“I wanted to talk to you.”

He opened his eyes when he felt her sit beside him, “Then talk” he said as he looked at her snobbishly.

She stared at him in shock which made him sigh, “I’m sorry, there’s just a lot of things going on in my mind.” He offered with a small smile.They stayed silent for a while, looking up to the sky before Julie broke it.

“What are you thinking?”

Elmo turned his attention back to her and said, “The announcement…and some other stuff.” With a shrug.

“Nasaan na yung fiance mo?”

“Inside with my Dad and Frank. Talking with future investors, clients."Elmo acknowledged what she said by nodding his head.

"Is it my engagement?”

He looked at her for a moment before he ansered, “What else? And the fact that you didn’t tell me about it.”

Sighing she said, “I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. I was still wrapping my head around it and stuff started to happen and change, I– it slipped my mind”“But you should’ve mentioned it after I asked you out for dinner.”

Smiling she said, “It’s a dinner among friends two friends, why would it matter?” with a playful glint in her eyes.

“It’s– I thought– It’s whatever! You should’ve mentioned it still!” Elmo stammered.

Julie chuckled at his stammering. She knew exactly why he was stammering. She knew that that date that he organized wasn’t remotely friendly, it was more of a romantic date for someone he was trying to woo. And because that night, she pretended that she didn’t have a fiance, that for one night, she wanted things to be different between them.

“Stop it! What’s so funny?” He was getting irritated.

“You are” she answered trying to stifle her laughter.

“Am not!”

“You are too! Look you’re flustered.”

Elmo had had enough, he was irritated that she found him being flustered funny. 

If only she knew why, he thought.

With that thought, he decided to let her know.

“You wanna know why?” He asked and she looked at him still chuckling. “Because if Aiden didn’t call, I would’ve kissed you,” He said looking her in the eyes, and he added, “and you would have let me." 

With that she sobered up. She wanted to deny what he said but found it was useless. She was getting married, might as well be honest with him. With a sigh she said, "You’re right. If you did kiss me, hindi kita pipigilan. But I guess, wrong timing padin kasi instead na ako pumigil sayo, yung tawag ni Aiden pumigil sating dalawa.” She finished with a sad smile, meeting his gaze.

“I guess it wasn’t meant to be.” He finally said.

“Maybe.”

They were enveloped on silence once again. Processing what were said between the two of them.

When both heard someone calling Julie’s name, which he figured was Aiden. Elmo stood up from the bench, offering Julie a hand as he said, “I guess it’s time for you to go. Hinahanap ka na ng fiance mo.”

Julie took his hand and stood up from the bench and faced Elmo.“I guess I should,” she said with a smile. “I’ll see you on Monday?" 

"Maybe.” Elmo answered with a lopsided smile.

Looking him in the eyes, Julie took a step closer to Elmo. Leaning up to her tip-toes, she planted her lips on his. As she pulled away she leaned up to whisper in his ear.

“I’ve been wanting to do that all night.” She leaned away to look at his face. Fixing the collar of his shirt, and dusting off invisible dirt she added, “Next time, kung makikipag kainan kang mukha make sure hindi ko makikita okay?" 

"Sweetdreams Moe” Julie said over her shoulder as she walked away.

Elmo was still speechless, still trying to process what just happened. Touching his lips, he started to chuckle.

“I’ll definitely be dreaming the sweetest dream tonight, that’s for sure.” -x- -x- -x- A/N: Because it’s their and our 5th Anniversary, here’s a special update. Sorry kung medyo boring first part, I just wanted to get that part out of the way and I didn’t feel like skipping it. But don’t worry, the next coming updates is where the fun stuff starts. Lol

All This Time (Chapter 12)

Chapter 12 - Shall We Dance? (Part 2)

As Julie waited for Elmo, to untangle himself from Veronica’s arms that was around his neck, and stood up from the stool where he was seated and walked towards her before she turned away and went to the dance floor near the patio doors that leads to the garden stopping on her tracks, she looked to the ground to calm the erratic beating of her heart.

After she and Aiden left to the dance floor earlier, couldn’t get Elmo’s reaction to the news of her engagement out of her head. He looked like a man who had his heart broken, and lost his hopes and dream in that moment. And when she looked in his eyes she saw anguish, anger, hopelessness, confusion and determination.  She so badly wanted to talk to him, to explain things so whem the moment they locked eyes, she pleaded to him to let her explain, when he nodded his head she felt relieved that he got her message.

Whilst she was dancing with Aiden, she couldn’t focus on the conversation she was having with Aiden, her eyes wandered around the hall where the ball is, hoping to see the man who was making her feel all kinds of emotions.

When she finally saw him, he was talking to a woman, who she recognized as Veronica, at the bar she was surprised to feel an extreme jealousy, more so when she saw Veronica closed the distance between her and Elmo. She saw when Veronica slowly stepped between his legs and wrapped her arms around his neck. She was watching them so intently that when Veronica planted her lips on his, she felt the tears well up in her eyes, and the her chest tightened, she felt she couldn’t breathe.

“Excuse me, I need to go to the ladies room.” She choked out finally tearing her eyes away from them.

“Okay ka lang babe?” Aiden asked with concern when she saw Julie breathing hard.

“I’m okay, I just need a moment.”

Walking away from Aiden, and out of the ballroom she headed straight for the ladies room. On the way there, she tried to smile the best she can at the employees who greeted her. Once inside the ladies room, she checked each stall to make sure that she was alone.

Turning around to face the mirror, she looked at her self and noticed how her mascara became smudged from when tears started to well up in her eyes. She took out paper towels fron the dispenser, soaking it with water, wiping at the smudged mascara. When she was done, she opened her clutch bag and started to re-apply her make up to make her look presentable again. Once she finished, she looked at herself again, took deep breaths to collect herself and started to give herself a pep talk.

Kaya mo yan Julie. Just take deep breaths.

He’s your best friend, hindi ka dapat mag selos. You already have a fiance who you love

Ang tanong mahal mo ba talaga? Another part of her brain asked.

Of course! Papayag ba naman ako magpakasal kung hindi?

Before or after you realized that you’re still in love with your bestfriend?

That was a long time ago, I’ve moved on. Kung ano man ang nararamdaman ko para sakaniya, it’s purely platonic.

Is that why you wanted him to kiss you on your supposedly friendly date, and you wanting to kiss him so badly?

She froze at that thought, because to be honest, she so badly did. She had enjoyed every minute she spent with hin that she almost forgot about Aiden, her fiance.

Almost.

Until her phone started ringing at the exact moment when she and Elmo were leaning into each other for a kiss. Seeing Aiden’s name at that moment, brought her back down to reality from the high she felt from spending time with Elmo.

That was why she felt like she needed to explain things to Elmo, to let him know that she never intended to lead him along, that in all honestly, having a boyfriend and being recently engaged slipped her mind.

At the moment, she was feeling confused and uncertain. She knew after seeing Elmo again, and spending time with him that she still has the same feelings she had 4 years ago that she thought she had moved on from. His sudden reappearance in her life is making her doubt her decision at accepting Aiden’s proposal. Now she was unsure of her relationship with, she has for a while, after his slip-up which he promised would never happen again, but eventually forgave him because at the time, she was sure she’s in love with him. Although she loves him still, she wasn’t sure if she ever really fell in love with him, not until Elmo showed up.

Elmo

The thought of him brought her back from her thoughts, remembering that he was out there sucking faces with SJC’s very own snake, Veronica, she looked at her reflection one last time before going back out to the ball room with her chin up, her head held high and determination in her eyes. Once inside, she scanned the dance floor checking to see if Aiden was still waiting for her. When she found her talking to his colleagues on the far side of the ball room near the stage, she looked towards the bar to check if Elmo was still there with the snake.

Yep. Still there and…. sucking each other’s face.

She schooled her face to hide her emotions before marching towards their location. When she was three steps away, she took a deep breath trying to control her emotions. She tapped him on the shoulders. She got a groan from him in response before he broke away from the kiss and looking behind him. After telling him the excuse she thought just moments ago, she turned around and walked away.

Now here she was, still have her head looking down lost in her thoughts when she heard the clearing of a throat behind her. She took a deep breath, schooled her features and plastered a smile on her face before turning around to face him.

His eyes were glazed over, five buttons from his shirt open, lipstick staining his mouth and a messy hair.

In his disheveled state, she still found him irresistable, and adorable.

Thanks to Veronica, her thought spat out.

She hated it knowing that Veronica was responsible for him looking like that.

Because deep down she knew. She wanted to be the only who can make him look like that.

Still looking at him, she took a few steps closer, instantly closing the distance between them. She reached out, in her tip toes, to fix his hair by combing it with her hands. Next, she buttoned his shirt all the way to the top, and fixing the collar of his shirt. Lastly, using her hands, she wiped the lipstick stain from his lips. All the while she was doing that, she could feel his eyes on her, watching her every move. She looked up at him and gave him a small smile.

They locked gazes for a few moments, without any word being exchanged. When Elmo heard a very familiar song playing, he held out his hand for her.

“May I have this dance?” He asked with a cheeky smile

“Yes you may.” She answered back with a smile of her own.

She knew that they still have to talk, knowing that he might have questions for her and that she needed to explain things.

But for now, she wanted to stay where they are, even for just for a little while, wrapped in each other’s arm.

A/N: I never intended to post an update this early after posting the previous chapter a few days ago, but due to the 3 friends I have (who I mentioned on the previous chapter) who were too eager for an update and kept hounding me for it on twitter, I conceded. I know I’m too good of a friend. Lol

Anyway, this here is the fruit of their non-stop hounding of me for an update.

Don’t expect for another update soon, I need to recuperate. Writing this drained me. 😖
