June Christy – The Misty Miss Christy
The Misty Miss Christyis a 1956 studio album by June Christy. Christy sings several jazz standards, along with a few lesser-known tunes. Pete Rugolo arranged the songs and conducted the orchestra, which consisted of different combinations of musicians on different recording dates, with some overlap. The album was released on Capitol Records and reissued on Discovery Records. The CD was released on Blue Note Records.
The Allmusic review by Stephen Cook awarded the album 4½ stars and stated:” Both an essential Christy title and one of the best vocal albums from the '50s.”

• « I know what you got in mind...Something Cool » • Iconic June Christy. #Repost @travelinggentleman ・・・ Jazz singer June Christy (November 20, 1925 – June 21, 1990) was born on the exact same day as Bobby Kennedy and would have turned 93 today. 🥂🍾🎼 In this video she sings the title track of her debut album on Capitol Records called “Something Cool”. This performance is from the 1959 television show called “Playboy's Penthouse” hosted by Hugh Hefner. The show only ran for two seasons and the theme song was written by Cy Coleman. There were many great guests such as Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald and the whole atmosphere is very relaxed and intimate. They have drinks, Hugh talks with his guests while dressed in a dinner jacket and it was filmed at Hefner’s own apartment in Chicago. #junechristy #somethingcool #jazz #singer #cooljazz #hughhefner #playboymansion #tuxedo #dinnerjacket (at Tsf Jazz) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqxSurwBjR2/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1iew56v61y2ok
