In Nope (2022), there's a scene where Jupiter Park describes the Saturday Night Live parody of a chimpanzee attack that he personally witnessed. This works on two levels:
First, it shows that Jupe is still so traumatized that he can't talk about the incident.
Second, it shows that the Gordy's Home producers did not need a real chimpanzee to be entertaining. They could have had an actor in a monkey suit being funny. But the producers didn't want to negotiate with a person, they wanted a real animal to exploit. As a result, a couple of people were brutally mauled by an enraged "Gordy."
