    a soft, cool breeze blew as she sat upon the porch. Her scars had been aching recently, a reminder of that day, of her father, still lost. She traced the lines from where the firebender had sent a lash of flame crawling up her legs as she had fled.

   It made her flinch, just perceptibly, to remember that day and think on another with a scar, a visible sign of the harm inflicted by the Fire Nation. She had not thought on the young man in a while, trying to remember that men—when they left—never returned.

   Yet, as if she had summoned him, he stood before her and she almost let out a yell, one hand still gripped at her leg, as she cast her eyes up to him.  “ Lee? Is that you?  I didn’t think I’d see you again.”   it’s practically surreal have him here in front of her. Men don’t come back…it was just a truth she carried since childhood.
