From a canon standpoint, I can see Phineas as romance-favorably aromantic— he has no particular inclination towards romance, but he's open to it, may even come to crave it. As for why he appears to be drawn specifically to Isabella when he expresses the desire for romance, well, obviously, if you're going to engage in romantic activity, it only makes sense to do it with someone you like, and Isabella is his favorite person he's not related to.

WIP Wednesday (9/3) | Mafia Front Restaurant AU (Part 368)

JEAN

Throughout their little unending game of cards Jean stays mostly quiet. He is afraid if he opens his mouth he will not be able to close it again, because Neil has lied to him and Jean is supremely pissed off about it. His silence is evidently just as showing as a temper tantrum because it seems both Kevin and Neil— and possibly Minyard— can tell he's upset, but neither mentions it.

They just play cards as if everything is normal.

As if they often gather around this table together. As if they're old friends catching up over cards and bad coffee. As if they're not three plus one and not four at all.

It is a ridiculous farce. Jean thinks that anyone could tell there's an odd man among them. Or perhaps that's just old Raven instinct. Though Andrew is wearing black he does not belong. He is not one of them. Not really. But Jean's problem is not with Andrew Minyard at the moment. But his own scheming little partner with dried blood on his ear. Jean wants to lick his thumb, wipe it off. 

Actually he wants to take Kevin and Neil home. Or he wants to flip this damn table over and demand to know why Neil thought him incapable of doing his job. The graze on his arm is nearly healed up. And sure, his back isn't in great shape but he's played exy in worse fucking conditions. He could've handled it. He could have been there. Should have.

Jean storms in his head and appears perfectly neutral on the outside, playing cards on autopilot and barely paying attention to the meager conversation around him. It's mostly Kevin and Neil discussing the Jaguar's future lineup, much to Andrew's chagrin and Jean's annoyance. For Neil to go from an actual shoot out to talking about the game that stole their lives. It's preposterous. 

Kevin mentions the possibility of Andrew moving into his building and Neil lights up yet again. Likely he's thinking it would be a grand idea, given that Kevin is so lonely in New York. Having a friend just a staircase away would be good for him. Jean knows this. He hates this. He should be there.
