Honestly though, and I mean this even when I take off my Lawrusso hat, why are Carmen and Johnny even together? What do they like about each other? What do they have in common? What do they do for fun? All I've seen so far on the show is that Carmen likes Johnny because he's a hurt stray she wants to gentle and Johnny likes Carmen because she's pretty and nice and the mother of his favourite student. But there's zero chemistry, zero sexual tension. All their scenes, while sweet sometimes, feel so flat to me. And it's funny that while Johnny and Carmen have no chemistry, Johnny does have chemistry with Daniel. There's the crackle, the heat, the tension, the magnetism. And maybe that's partly accidental (Billy and Ralph do just have an easy, natural chemistry which you can see in interviews all the time) but it's interesting that Johnny and Daniel have such palpable chemistry (half the time it looks like they're about to tear each other's clothes off, whether they're fighting or not) but once Johnny's with Carmen all that raw sexuality evaporates and he becomes so tepid.
