The girl has been in her life for nearly a year. When she first spotted her, she was hiding, hurt, alone... like a bird with broken wings. She was fragile and didn't have anyone to protect her. Seoul typically did this to people. Hyunjung didn't believe that she had much of a choice. Well, that's actually a lie, she knew that she did. There was always the option of leaving her to fend for herself, seeing if this god awful city would strengthen or destroy her, but that wasn't in her nature. The older girl was nurturing and compassionate, so she took her in. Of course, she was still dating Yumi at the time, so the younger girl was brought into a rather toxic environment. Her ex-girlfriend never seemed to be understanding or okay with the decisions she made, so she typically tended to ignore her comments and criticism.
For a while, Juyeon barely spoke. She was quiet, unresponsive, uncooperative.. but Hyunjung never gave up. She would brush the girl's hair every morning, cook meals for her, wrap blankets around her, and ensure that she had everything she needed to be healthy. Pongo also seemed fond of the teen, always resting his head on her lap and dropping his favorite toy at her feet. Once Hyunjung broke up with her manipulative girlfriend, she got an apartment of her own and left with the young girl and the dog. If she didn't have a place to stay, she wasn't going to throw her out onto the streets, and there was no way in hell that she planned on leaving her with the wicked witch. Times got happier, and Juyeon eventually gained a bit of happiness. It took a while, but the older girl one day was able to see the other's personality in all of its glory. That didn't stop her from being a "mom friend", however, because she still continued to care for her as if she had no other duty in the world.
Even though she felt like she had to only rely on herself, she still liked not being completely alone after the break-up. But, a few months later, In February of 2017, Juyeon managed to locate a long, lost relative and, not long after that, met her grandfather that was still living, so she moved in with him. It made Hyunjung happy that the younger girl had family that were alive and that she had it in her heart to take care of the older man as if she'd known him all of her life. Being alone doesn't bother her, especially since she has her beloved Pongo and the girl still sometimes visits. Tonight, for example, the three were gathered in the living room, the large dog resting his head on Juyeon's lap like he used to.
Hyunjung sat on her side of the sofa, eyes watching the drama that played before them, though they soon drifted to the younger sitting a few feet away. She was struggling to keep her eyes open as her head kept lolling back, and the older could only smile at how cute it was. "Juyeon..." She whispered as to not startle her friend. She placed the empty carton that once held ice cream on the coffee table before removing the blanket from her lap and covering the other the best that she could, with the slumbering dog using her as a pillow. The poor girl must have been worn out. Hyunjung reached out and brushed long, blonde locks out of her face, briefly continuing to lovingly stroke her hair. "Ready for me to turn this off?"
