King & Queen - Chapter 24
I couldn't get this to work on AO3 but I got it here!
It's been a while but I wrote a little something something for the favorite royal couple!
Happy Valentine's Day!
-------
Power
“Munto,” a soft echo commanded his head to turn, feet following in a graceful swivel. A small smile greeted him. No teeth, only glistening lips sporting a sweet, cherry red. Emeralds captured him in place, knocking the little air left in his lungs. Dark and round, he nearly tripped forward in an effort to lose himself to it.
Several years ago, when he wore fresh battle wounds and a persistent ache through his back like medals of honor, he might have growled at the seduction. Clawed his way out of emerald eyes. Tore the cherry from her lips. Silence the softness.
But, battle wounds scar, and his aching back only flared during the worst of summer’s storms. It helped to have a dedicated pair of hands to smooth the aches of old whenever needed. Soft lips to kiss at his temple after a fright. Eyes to hold his gaze in the busiest of crowds. One look made him feel worth that a crowd could not.
His skin prickled as it always did in her presence. The way one’s might when after warming under the sun and a stray breeze flicks by. When a lover kisses their affectionate’s nape under the moonlight. For so long he took such a sensation as a warning, a sign of danger approaching.
Get Out.
Flee.
Aggressive and disoriented because no enemy stood before him but sirens rang through his ears. An anomaly, perhaps. Foreign to him and his council. A proven confidant with time.
He might have shed his boyish nature through war but the man did not emerge until he accepted her touch. More than accept. He sought her out. Only by her grace did he not have to beg.
“Yumemi,” a prayer tore through his lips. He drank her in, their perfect contrast.
Pale and tan. Blonde and red. Emerald and gold. Low to high.
Inyo of her people.
The lighthouse in his storm.
“Yumemi,” this time relief and praise breathed into a toothy grin of welcome. “Welcome home.”
"I like the red leather jacket."

[paramay 2019 aesthetic] Day 6 // Zazie + Significant Other
There’s only one person Zazie’s ever had feelings for, and that is Nyru. Wether he wants to admit it or not, she really is the only person he’s ever been in love with. They have an incredibly complicated relationship, but they also somehow consider each other soulmates and have a bond unlike anything else. They just don’t say it any of that. And that is the main problem in their relationship; they just don’t ever talk about their feelings for each other. Nyru tries sometimes, she wants to make things right, but he’s just the absolute worst when it comes to admitting or even just being aware of his own feelings. They get into a lot of fights, be it over the most mundane shit like misplacing a cup, or really serious stuff like Zazie isolating himself or Nyru hurting herself. They both carry a lot of trauma and pain with them, and the reason they cannot let go of each other is because they’ve just never felt so deeply understood by another person. No matter how big their fights get, even if they don’t talk for a month, they always end up coming back to each other. Always.
You also get to see a completely different side of Zazie when he’s with her. Actually, you see a lot more of him. He’s usually very composed, he calculates his every move and even his laugh sounds kinda forced. He keeps a good distance from other people, and while he’s definitely more relaxed around his close friends, he just seems to be completely himself around Nyru. He lets his guard down. And I don’t think he even really notices that himself most of the time. He’s incredibly protective of her and tends to get into fights over someone just looking at her the wrong way. This is not something he would ever actually admit, but he is absolutely terrified that she’ll leave him one day. Which is a bit funny considering that their relationship is very on and off - there’s times when they’re not actually together, there’s times where they don’t even speak. Yet they keep coming back together every time. This is a big topic in their music, everybody knows that they write most of their songs about each other. They just don’t talk about it.

Munto entered the throne room, eyes downcast as chatter died to ghostly whispers. During the war, courtly appearances were non-existent but with peace filling their lands and joy bursting from every Heavenly beings’ lungs, such appearances were demanded. Many who stood before him had fought beside him, watched him grow on a battlefield. Still, there remained others who had not. Those that gossiped. Spoke of him as if they watched him in every waking moment. A fact that so greatly disturbed him that he once barricaded every door and window to his room until high past noon. Rui had kept the courts at bay until Ryueri could talk him out.
Now, that pin-prickling sensation crawled up his back. He always believed a good offense is a good defense and struggled to retain an aggressive display of snarling and narrow snapping as all eyes fell to him.
Munto wandered the hall with his eyes, catching the eye of every noble who dared not glance away. Never wise to leave a predator out of sight.
Surely, that’s what they saw him as. A violent king, lusting for power by reaching for an impossible Girl of Destiny, for taking the Outsider’s power. The boy who should have never been born. This thing -
Rui caught his eye, an amused smirk dying on his lips as a wild concern stole his thoughts. His right hand. His best friend. He saw the furry lapping like the tides behind molten eyes and saw a man in need of rescue. No king or monster here. Just a man, barely of age, feeling trapped with a thousand stares upon him. The stares of future traitors and conspirators. To take his hand, to take his head, to take his throne.
But Rui stood by his throne, eyes scanning for every possible scratch, watching the movements of every noble who might try.
Munto willed his feet into action and with a thousand stares upon him, glided to his throne without a stutter. He made no quick, jerky movements that would display agitation and anxiety. Only fluidity in his grace.
Like a panther sauntering between the undergrowth of a jungle. Muscle and confidence in every step, every leap, and every turn of a paw. Raw power in its grace. It lounged on a throne of branch, sure of its eyes and ears.
Rui bent low, lips barely moving before he righted himself and stepped back.
Munto nodded and the court proceeding began.
“They don’t know you, remember that,” rang so loud in his head, it took all Munto’s willpower not to swat at his ear.
But Rui rang true as every.
They don’t know me.
"Well, now that we're alone."
