Does Neytir still treat female spider kinda badly?

YES - I've thought about this a lot. Ready for AU BRAIN ROT?!

Yes in my Genderswapped!AvatarAU Neytir resents/hates Spider - but he loves Jane enough not to act on this. To add to the turmoil Spider in my AU will have Quaritch's striking blue eyes. This is a break from the movies as the actor has dark eyes. I think that would make Neytir even more pissed off - the idea that this feral child that runs around his home is the daughter of the colonel responsible for the destruction of his home AND her eyes are Miley's eyes. Neytir for that reason never looks Spider directly in the eyes.

This of course puts a lot of strain on Jane and his relationship as he is pretty against their kids hanging out with Spider - Nora mostly raises Spider(and Rudy... if I decide he lives past the first movie...)- but kids will be kids and Spider does end up sneaking off to play with Sully's kids. Jane, while not happy about having Quaritch's offspring in their care - recognizes that it's not the kid's fault. But she also can't blame her husband for being upset.

Nora develops a fear of Neytir and really doesn't like leaving Spider alone with him. If Rudy lives - I really want this to be a source of tension between him and Neytir. Rudy maybe pushes Nora to see about distancing themselves from Na'vi's encampment out of wariness for Neytir's hatred. But again - that short king might not make it in my au..... sowwy.

I've actually very much related to how I want Neytir to react similar to how Kerchak reacts to Tarzan in Disney's Tarzan.

I even have played with this moment where early in the war and first raids of the second invasion - that in an evacuation - Neytir almost purposely leaves behind child Spider(IDK like 9 year old Spider?) - like I want to draw a comic of him grabbing Tuk and turning to leave but then realising Jane would kill him if he returned without Spider.

As for Spider herself - she will share a lot of the same sentiments as Spider from the movies. She will have a deep connection with K'ir(Genderswapped!Kiri) and will look up to Jane - I do want Nora to play more of a role as a parental figure. Neytir is someone who she knows hates her - but like most young kids - craves acceptance and has developed guilt for who her mother was. It makes her eager to prove herself to Neytir and the other Na'vi - hence the painting stripes and refusing to wear any human clothes. She also braids one long grouping of hair from the back of her neck to simulate a Tsaheylu.

She also constantly reads Nora and Grant's old science logs because she is desperate to find a way to be Na'vi. She plays with the old link jump pods that are outta commission. Jane was able to transfer consciousness and become one of the people - obviously with the war against the RDA and resistance - they don't have the means or resources to grow Spider a Na'vi body. But that doesn't stop her from researching - and praying. Spider constantly tries to pray to Ewya - despite having no Tsaheylu.

Neytir's treatment of Spider also creates a rocky relationship with his adopted son, K'ir. Despite Neytir's love and attempts to connect with K'ir - it's hard for K'ir to understand his treatment of Spider.

Of course, that means Lo'a and Spider are besties because between the two of them, they disappoint both parents. :D:D:D
