I instantly lose all respect for people who identify as something other than non-sectarian socialist. I'm talking particularly about those people on the left that vehemently oppose other leftists -- anarchists, marxist-leninists, socdems, etc, -- framing them as being the some kind of enemy and preventing the Real Socialism™ from developing.
We actually don't have time to be armchair socialists and talk about socialism theoretically anymore. We have a climate crisis looming over our heads and a rabid, declining empire propagating the seeds of fascism. We have to act now. And in order to do that, we need to make friends with those that are different to us (making friends with someone different to you is the kind of moral lesson one might find in a fucking berenstain bears book or whatever, yet here we are, grown adults incapable of tolerating diversity).
What ever happened to leftist unity? In one way or another, we all oppose capitalism and the state, do we not? Diverse thinking creates diverse solutions. A great philosopher once said that internal contradictions are inherent in all thing. Let me repeat that louder for the people in the back, INTERNAL CONTRADICTIONS ARE INHERENT IN ALL THINGS!!! That includes socialist discourse too.
It's crazy how the moment it comes to actually applying socialist thought in to practice, dialectical materialism flies out the window and everyone falls back on the old bourgeois ideology and worldview that they grew up with.
Please, can we just kick the purity culture out of socialism and embrace plurality of thought. There are multiple socialisms, and they are permanently changing depending on the material conditions of the people who follow them. As long as what we're doing is benefiting the oppressed, and of course the planet, then who the fuck actually cares if it's Real Socialism™ or not?
We need to join together to eradicate capitalism.
