ene saying master is SO poorly justified it's seriously criminal and i'd say it's the authors barely disguised fetish if jin didn't say "fuuuuck i want to be called master" in his afterwords LMAO
i understand the point is for ene to make shintaro feel disgusting for being the kind of guy that gets off on that, kind of like "i'll appeal to you but i will be so extremely annoying about it that i will personally give you the ick and make u rethink." basically kinkshaming in casual conversation through how she addresses him. it's twisted. it's so ene. it's perfect.
BUT. hs takane being the one to make that promise/bet/bring up "master" At All and completely Out Of Nowhere has always felt incredibly off. it's one of those scenes that make u un-suspend ur disbelief and ur like ooookay yeah this writer is really making this girl say "And I'll call you Master 😡!"
that whole scene where shintaro beats takane in headphone actor is just So annoying. i always skip it because it gives me second hand embarrassment. it feels written very much to make takane be the idiot/look bad, it feels because until then, we've known her as ene who is always getting the upper hand with shintaro. so that scene always felt like humbling takane to the viewer Which i really wouldn't be against. that's pretty much takane's whole thing, like, yeah the bitch who always wins and has the advantage of her privacy... well she's actually extremely fail and is irreparably cringe. like fuuuck yes.
the problem with humbling takane in the specific scene she meets shintaro is that it's... unnecessary, because at that point in time they didn't know each other and takane approaches him very normally and politely and shintaro's the one who makes them start off in the wrong foot anyways let's kill him
