Ignored thoughts - Social networks
Sometimes I wonder if I really need a social network... It would be stupid to say there is a world of things to do out there besides be stuck on a computer or the phone that’s tied to a social network. Honestly though, It really is true. We allow hours upon hours of our life being drain into “networking” but to who? We see the same thing. Someone posting their emotions on a blog site or status update site. We say our two cents, our negatives, our positives, our insights and then we move on right? We follow certain fans who ignore you because they have hundreds of others who feel like you, “they’ll reply to me one day.” We constantly cross promote ... don’t act like you don’t know. Tumblr for example was intended to be different yet people promote it on their Facebook to follow them, on their instagrams, their twitters ... “follow me.” What’s the goal? Social status?... I have 1,000 followers, I have 4 thousands something friends on Facebook, I have 900 subscribers on youtube... Who are you trying to prove? who are you trying to impress. Don’t act like you don’t do it. I can be bold to say you’re lying if you say no but maybe there are people out there who just write on blogs because they have something to share or talk about that is not seeking attention. Maybe someone has a channel on youtube that is worth following, watching, connecting... I mean I don’t know exactly but I am not being bold and saying you’re lying but I am saying majority have that intentions. Majority is our youth too. Youth being Teens, high schoolers, middle schoolers Seeking attention and needy where they lack else where. Believing that the more they have on a computer .... well you get the point. its just sad. I know I am the in between generation. As I... I grow up playing Mortal Kombat outside, Kickball, Tag, outdoor games.... and I grow up around the social networks too... I know them all, used them all... nothing is new to me anymore... different name, new concept but same goal... “attention”.... which brings me back to my first thought.... sometimes I wonder if I really need a social network
