Part 2 of “I can’t draw so I’m looking through stuff I hadn’t posted yet for some reason”
I guess I was into pink ocs at the time?
Anyway, some fanart sketches of @tajitangu ‘s oc, Kamain Candy (who I keep picturing as the witch in Hansel and Gretel for some reason, except, you know, successful) and @team-star-huntresses ‘s Razberry Spar (whose alt outfit I ******* love).
A detailed weapon post will come eventually, anyway, just read under the cut if you’re interested (and actually like my lame writing)! And warning that is lengthy.
P.s. Why aren’t you commissioning @teamvcta for weapons yet?
Kamain was born in a small village somewhere between the kingdoms of Vale and Vacuo. There, she was cared by her two mothers, and was relatively well off in terms of financial living standards. From her childhood to early adolescence, Kamain used to be a fragile girl with her share of being bullied by a several faunus. Being young, she was coerced that her troubles were nothing compared to many mistreated Faunus elsewhere; she didn’t bother to fight back or bring attention to it considering those facts.
During one of the faunus’s usual rough housing with Kamain outside the village, it caught the attention of Grimm. The monsters chased after and had their attacks enclose the children in a small cave. With days turning to weeks, Kamain was accepting both their demises. The faunus grew desperate and attempted escape, resulting part of the cave’s structure to collapsing them. Kamain struggled between her instinct and conscience, but had succumbed to eating the remains of the faunus to last longer until authorities managed to find and return her home.
After her mothers settled the commotion with Kamain’s trauma, the girl tried returning back to her now, bully-free, life. Although, after staying in that situation for so long, eating became strange to her, filling but not satisfied. To settle her curiosity, she managed to lure one of her peers over her family’s home before biting into them, filling this craving. In the household it shocked her mother’s and was immediately restricted from inviting others on her own. She adjusted to alleviating her guilt for this habit by assuming faunus as livestock. Kamain later rebelled and would commit this taboo elsewhere for sometime before residents threatened her mothers to have the girl removed. Kamain was left under house arrest by one of her mothers, forced to abate this twisted craving. This left the girl itching greatly, and secluded herself from her parents, who were in her eyes torturing her.
She couldn’t take the pressure anymore and wanted out, she believed she had no choice to get rid of both of them. To which she did, first taking out her caretaker mother, then using her death to bring her birth mother close to strike. With her restraints gone, she disposed of the bodies by eating them and packed up her things, leaving her village to further satiate her tastes of many other vulnerable faunus.
Throughout then Kamain has gone through many changes, both in knowledge and appearance. She’s created her own gear and learned more about her hunting grounds, adapting to the situation to meet her end goal of indulging in her cannibalistic diet. In adapting, she has changed her image: having a slight name change, restyling her hair completely, and going into full on disguises. She even ground her teeth jagged in order to ease tearing off flesh and passing off as faunus herself.
Alongside her drive, she now spends time traveling Remnant and revels in taking temp jobs as a hunter or a chef. Her caretaker mother had taught her much in the culinary arts, so she’s incorporated to it her lifestyle since
Personality:
After leaving home, Kamain has outgrown her shy figure to be sociable, perhaps even to annoying degree. She can be considered quite normal; She is eccentric, over-friendly, and fully of energy. She wants to know all about those she engages with, and often goes about interacting beyond personal space with strangers. In return she can be talkative and tends to blurt out strained metaphors.
Inside however, she’s also keeping something wicked. She tends to befriend Faunus specifically for the purpose of her diet. As a yangire, humans who stand in her way of denying or tampering with her meals will not be safe. Publicly, she has some trouble controlling it as Faunus tend to be picked on by humans on occasion, having to hold back her mauling and sometimes just spooking others. During battle, she’s quite snarky and overconfident during conversation, even if the opponent doesn’t rebuttal.
While she is capable of forming bonds with other people, she merely insists to appease her need to socialize and pure amusement. She is asexual and completely devoted as a connoisseur of eating and faunus meats.
Semblance: “Blood Rush”
Kamain is able to turn her opponents rampant by gazing opponents[x]. Signified by red glowing eyes between both the user and opponent, she can turn them rabid force them to attack her or others regardless of the situation. This ability can only extend to one contact for roughly 2 minutes, so long as Kamain is not in plain sight. While it can be used repeatedly, victims will slowly be able to gather their thoughts.
Opponents afflicted with this rabid status have this constant “Fight!” response. Both friends and foes are at risk of being injured by their chaos; they may also injure themselves further if they are in no condition to fight, which Kamain prefers to use her semblance on.
This semblance cannot be afflicted to the user. However, it may backfire and strengthen others who are already on the offensive.
(Think of a mix between Taunt and Swagger from Pokemon.)
Fighting Style:
Weapons: Cochineal (Details/to be updated)
Kamain likes to prep the fight where she can gain the advantage, being moderately stealthy and using other personas to bring her opponent’s guard down early on. She often seeks battles with the weak or a one-on-one. Her semblance also helps prevent a single opponent from leaving confrontation with her. With teams, she will single out one member to wreck havoc among the team or go after her alone. Sometimes the distraction is used to lend her help for her escape. She herself is perfectly capable of taking hits and lunging her own strength at others. At times she will banter like a cookbook, telling how her opponents will be prepared. Her drive and motivation tends to keep her from doubting, even when the situation isn’t in her favor.
Kamain always dresses herself in a way where she is carrying either half of Cochineal on her. Otherwise, she manages to keep some, if not many, sharp tools underneath. The shotgun half is usually preferred at hand for its quick bursts of strength and disrupting the flow the battle. Also handy for staggering those unaffected by her semblance. As for the cleaver half, other than being able to serve practical use, can attach with the shotgun and extend its blade as a perfect tool for butchering her victims.
Trivia:
Kamain is the Katakana-Romanji of ‘Carmine.’
Candy is not her real surname.
Cochineal, her weapon, is a reference to a scale insect that is harvested and crushed to create a natural, red dye used in foods such as candy, or cosmetics, like lipstick.
Inspiration comes from the idea of cannibalism, butchers, and the animal aspect of Faunus. Also influenced by Ryūgū Rena from Higurashi.
Her natural hair color is a dark maroon (Yes, she dyed her eyebrows), like her birth mother. Her hairstyle takes after her late, caretaker mother.
She likes find reasons why she would prey on humans before doing so (e.g. they bully faunus, aka her food, paranoia/they know too much).
If she happens to like the person she had eaten a lot, she will name a knife after them.
Dying by one’s terms feels unimportant to her.
She hates Grimm because they are trying to take her food.
She is fond of perfumes with a food-like fragrance to hide the stench of dried blood. Her favorite being fresh bread.
