He had to make sure that Kane found out from him. If his son read it in the newspaper, it would be pretty terrible. It was early, but honestly Greg hadn’t gotten any sleep anyway. He just wanted both of his sons and some damn breakfast. He had left Keegan with Kane yesterday afternoon when he went to lunch with Nate, deciding that Keegan could just spend the night before they left this morning. Now, he wasn’t planning on leaving at all. He knocked gently against the door and took a deep breath. Luckily it wouldn’t be entirely fake. The raw emotions he felt were enough to make him want to stay in bed and cry for a month. Someone was out to get this family.
When the door opened, Greg swallowed hard. As he came face to face with Kane, his bottom lip quivered and his throat tightened. How was he going to say this? He knelt down to take Keegan up in his arms and shook his head. “Nate died last night.” He whispered, holding Keegan close to his chest.
