thoughts on niigo! maybe kanena / kanamafu
thank you! i'm super excited to talk abt my opinions on niigo!
their story is a bit overhyped imo. it's great to have a story focused on mental health and the negative effects of parental pressures, self-fulfilling prophecy, and giving up on your dreams. but their story itself isn't super groundbreaking and it really focuses mostly on one member when i think that distributing those traits among all 4 characters would've been more interesting and given the story a chance to let all 4 of the group's members shine.
mizuki has easily my favorite voice of the group, although all 4 of them have pretty equally interesting and lovely voices. even kanade's lifelessness has its charm.
kanena is probably one of the healthier niigo ships -- they both want to create fantastic art and they'd be really good at hyping each other up, giving good constructive criticism, and being able to celebrate each other's victories.
kanamafu isn't as unhealthy as a lot of people think it is, but there is definitely a power dynamic there that's unhealthy. i genuinely think that if they both sought outside help like a therapist, they could work really well romantically and call each other out on their negative behaviors.
