（例）：かんじがよめなくてこまっています。(I am in trouble because I cant' read Japanese characters.)

困る（こまる）：not knowing what to do / to be in trouble. ** inside kanji's 「口」 shape, we can see the 「木」 (tree) kanji.** (例）: バスがこなくて困っています。（I'm in trouble because the bus is not coming.) Other Kanji：

囲む（かこむ）：to surround

外国（がいこく）： foreign country

原因（げんいん）：cause ** all of these kanji use 「口」 shape as the enclosure** Lesson 10 Kanji 問題２- Question 3 (例）：くうこうで、かぞくとわかれました。（At the airport, I said goodbye to my family.)

別れる（わかれる）：to say goodbye/ to break up. (例)：－カフェ友達と別れました。（I said goodbye to my friend at the cafe. ) - きのこいびとと別れました。（Yesterday I broke up with my boy/girlfriend.) Other Kanji

分かれる（わかれる）：to divide, to separate *sounds same, diff. kanji* (例)：２つのチーム分かれて試合をします。(Lets divide the teams to have a match.)

切る（きる）：to cut

回る（まわる）：cause

Lesson 7 Kanji 問題２- Introduction

** 問題２ requires finding the correct kanji for the underlined word in the question's sentence.**

(例)：ちょっとくちをあけてください。（please open your mouth.)

口（くち）: mouth

目（め）：eyes

自 (じ）as in 自分 (じぶん）：oneself

回る（まわる）：turning around Lesson 8 Kanji 問題２- Question 1 (例:) 友達あそこでうたっています。（A/my friend is singing over there)

歌う: to sing

歌って：singing

**歌 can be read as:

うた：song

か example words for 歌：

歌手 (かしゅ）：singer

オペラ歌手（オペラかしゅ）：opera singer example sentence for 歌：

カラオケで歌いました - I sang at the karaoke.

日本の歌を歌ってください。- Please sing a Japanese song. Other Kanji:

（例)：テレビでやきゅうの試合を見ます。(I watch the baseball game on tv.)

試合：（しあい）- game, match, contest

** word is often said in sport competitions. ex: sports & soccer** - やきゅうの試合 (baseball game) - サッカーの試合 ( soccer game)

Other words w/ 【試】（し）is used:

試験（しけん）：exam

入試（にゅうし）：entrance exam **it is helpful to associate 【試】 w/ an important event that has a det ermining result** Lesson 6 Kanji 問題1 - Question 5 （例)：げつよびはゆうえんちは空いています。( the amusement park is less busy on Mondays. *literal meaning: "there aren't many people, it is almost empty"*) 空く(すく）:　empty / mostly empty - 電車が空いています【でんしゃがすいています】：（ the train is mostly empty)　 - おなかが空いています：（literal: my stomach is empty / direct: i am hungry) Other words w/ 空く：

空く（あく）：vacant - へやが空くいています: the room is vacant - ちゅうしゃじょうが空くています: the parking lot is vacant.

(例)：かぞくと、日本の旅館にとまりました　（I stayed at a trad. onsen w/ my family.

(りょかん）: Japanese style onsen / hotel ** 旅: (りょ) or (たび) ~ kanji can be found in travel related context & meanings** When used w/ 【りょ】 reading:

温泉旅館（おんせんりょかん）~ trad style hotel including hot springs.

旅行（りょこう）~ trip/journey

旅客機（りょかくき）~ passenger plane When used w/ the 【たび】 reading:

旅をする（たびをする）~ to go on a trip, to travel Lesson 4 問題　１ - Question 3 (例)：おかねが足りなくて買えませんでした。(i didn't have enough money, so i didn't buy it. *literal meaning: "there wasn't enough money")

(たり/足り)：enough

足りない（たりない）：not enough

足りる（たりる）：enough - ごはんが足りません。（there isn't enough food) - 時間が足りません。（there isn't enough time) ＊＊足、can also be read as 【そく】or 【あし】＊＊ - 足がいたい。（my feet hurt) - くつを一足かいました。（i bought a pair of shoes)

足（あし）： foot/legs

一足（いっそく）：one pair (of shoes)
