I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
I don't think so? I tend to keep to my own lane so I'm not super involved in what happens in fandom most of the time beyond the people I'm already following. If it's a fandom I'm already into and tumblr was getting annoying I tend to just... Keep shipping in private, which tends to be what happens to ANY ship for me tbh.
Tumblr often makes me postpone getting into a fandom though, but that's just my weird tendency to avoid popular things. I still haven't watched GoT soley because of how hyped it was back in the day, so I'll often avoid the currently popular fandom or media until the hype dies down.
Apparently controversial opinion: wanting a game to have a hard pause button does not mean I'm "not as good at the game" or "don't understand the real time challenge it presents," its an accessibility function gdi
It's been five years and I still can't get over the coming-out euphemism in "To the other side."
Ever since I binged Uncle Roger videos I hear his voice in my head when I'm cooking:
"HAIYAA the oil not hot enough you put the chicken in there. This is not cooking this is OIL BATH."
"Vegetable already sad, soggy vegetable even more sad."
I have a lot of feelings about Bioshock in general right now but particularly 1 and Infinite and really a game who’s mascot/icon/imagery is literally called “Big Daddy” are we really surprised that the series is just daddy issues layered over daddy issue over other daddy issues.
Dad-ception, if you will.
Just a shout out that I look at every single one of the tags on people who reblog my stuff. Out of everything I've posted so far, the tags under the Atlas piece is by far the most hilarious. It's been 11 years since the game came out and it's still too soon I guess.
Hello! I think 8,11&14 are interesting questions.
Hello there! These ones are gonna be long!
8. A game that not enough people talk about.
Suikoden - the whole series overall, but specifically 2, 3, and 5. Granted no one talks about it because it’s pretty old and Konami stopped making games. Great stories about war, but ultimately about the people within the war. Somehow manages to design 108 characters per game and manages to make me interested in all most of them, as well as tie character relations together in fun and interesting ways not just within the 108 characters per game, but across the different installments of the series. First home base/castle growth system done in a satisfying way that I’ve encountered. When I first started playing DA:I, I’m pretty sure I yelled somewhere that someone brought the Suikoden system into western fantasy.
The game lost its shine after 2, with a mini comeback with 5, but Konami went and started making pachinko machines instead of console games and…. here we are.
And as a genre - Life simulation/growth games! This is a big genre in Japan but almost non-existence in Western games? I’m talking Tokimeki Memorial series, Princess Maker series, that kind of thing, where the point of the game is to raise stats to fulfill a criteria to trigger story or character change and what not. Persona is a good example of an integrated version of it.
11. 5 of your favourite video games
In no specific order:
Bioshock games (it’s like the Oscars there will be a lot of repeats of this one.)
Fallout games
Persona games
Togainu no Chi (Yes this is in fact a yaoi visual novel from the 2000s. The first original game only because the later anime and add-on stories are such low quality cash grabs it still makes my purist ass cringe-cry.)
Final Fantasy Series
(Yes I cheated and put entire series down as one game I can’t choose okay don’t make me choose. Fallout 4, Fallout New Vegas, Bioshock 1, Final Fantasy 7, Persona 3.)
Honourable mentions: Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Age Inquisition, AC syndicate,
14. A game that never gets old
Uh. Everything I listed above I think. As for games I replay again and again. Well I’m still playing Fallout 4 - unfortunately that one IS getting old because I haven’t stopped playing it since it came out.
Persona 3 I replay every couple of years and that one still doesn’t get old for me.
