... I'm going to have a number of monster ocs to rival @tealtambourine's at this rate.
Meet Whaea! This old land-whale is the guardian and caretaker of a large nesting ground used by all different kinds of monsters. She keeps everything in order, fights off intruders who pose a danger to mating monsters and/or their young, and takes care of little ones who get lost or are abandoned for some reason. Because of this she has a large number of adoptive children, all of different species, from crabs to spiders to slugs to bats and many, many more. She is a kind and caring monster who never found a mate or had children of her own but is perfectly content with her ever-growing little misfit family. (She considers herself a bit old to have much of a chance at finding a mate now, though she certainly wouldn't mind one if she happened to be lucky enough to meet the right monster.) She cannot see or hear very well at all, but luckily her kids help her with those problems and she has continued on with her job and life as usual rather well. She has a beautiful, somewhat haunting singing voice.
On her back is the least mobile of her many kids, a colorful little crab named Kanonui. He, like most coral hermit crabs, prefers to stay in one place if he can, and his place is a little hiding spot he built on Whaea's back. He is always with her, and if for some reason you find him wandering around on his own Whaea can't be too far behind. He's very shy, and is often afraid of unfamiliar monsters. It takes some time for him to really warm up to someone, and even then he's still rather shy.
