Kyosuke’s eyes widened slightly. “Jinchuurikik?” He had heard stories about beasts from the old folks. None of which had been very positive, but the childish part of him held curiosity and awe for the creatures, wonder what it would be like to be able to meet the beings up close.

“What kind of stories have you heard?” The boy asked, head slightly tilted. “Are they any good?”

“Wellll....” She racks her brain for here-say stories that’ve been handed down to her from her superiors and her teammates.

“Uh, well, I’ve heard she’s used these weird blue fireballs to incinerate enemy shinobi-” She tries to tiptoe around the details. “Apparently, she spits them out like mice or something, it sounds crazy. I really wish I could see it myself.”

She smirks to herself, finding her admiration for Lady Yugito creeping over her. Lady Yugito had always been an inspiration for Karai ever since she was a little girl, so gushing over her idol was something that came naturally.

“She’s pretty nice too, from what I’ve heard at least. Which is great because i’d rather not have the ‘you shouldn’t meet your heroes’ moment if I ever get the chance to have a one-on-one with her.” She starts to ramble, nearly forgetting the goal of showing Kyosuke around Kumogakure.

Kyosuke gave the woman a kind smile. “Yes, I am.”

The raven haired boy politely held out a hand. “Kyosuke Uchiha. It’s nice to meet you. I appreciate the guidance.” The smile turned a bit sheepish.

“This is my first solo mission, and I haven’t really been here before.”  He chuckled nervously. “What’s your name? It doesn’t feel right to just call you Ms. Guide.”

His confirmation was a weight off her chest, her carelessness wasn’t going to come back and bite her in the ass after all. She sighs, mostly at herself before offering him a smirk, reaching out to grip his hand and giving it a firm shake. The name Uchiha piqued her interest, but it didn’t reveal itself on any of her features. ‘Weren’t they all wiped out...?’ The thought passes through her head.

Clearly not, as there was one, or allegedly one, standing right before her. She really should’ve paid closer attention to these things. Just another detail her brother can never know of or else he’ll be on her case again. Oh well.

“Sure thing kid, call it an act of good will between Konoha and Kumo.” She half-jokes, holding her arms up as if it’s some kind of grand gesture.

“Call me Karai. We’ll be best friends on your solo mission, I’ll be with you everywhere you go.” She chuckles to herself. “With me, you’ll get very familiar with Kumogakure.” She inflates her ego a little.

“So let’s walk and talk, kid. Tell me about your mission while I show you around.” She takes a step, hoping he’d follow her pace.

“Um… hi.” The young Uchiha shyly waved at the horned woman, slight curiosity in his eyes. Kyosuke pulled his bad a bit firmer over his shoulders. “I’m Kyosuke. Leaf shinobi. Are you my… guide?” //twinuchiha

Waiting for someone to show up to escort them was a very boring task. Karai lilted her head slightly towards the waterfall behind her, leaning against the metal guardrail. She cursed herself internally for not bringing her deck of cards to shuffle to at least pass the time. Though really, she has no room to complain since she's taking care of such a cushy assignment.

Crossing her legs as she stands, a quiet voice snaps her out of her thoughts, making her head whip to the origin of the voice.

"Oh hey kid. Sure am." She answers him confidently, standing up straight with her hand on her hip coolly.

"Wait, you are Kyosuke, right?" She tries to nip any confusion from herself in the bud. squinting and inspecting the child before her carefully. She really should have paid better attention to the details her captain gave her before she took off....
