Elizabeth Waller created this spectacular gown for the magnificent BBC miniseries 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉 𝑹. The costumes would eventually win Waller a much-deserved Emmy for best costume design. This gown, which appears quite different depending on the lighting, has been used in multiple productions. After being worn by Glenda Jackson’s Elizabeth I in 1971, it went on to be used by Karen Archer as Queen Elizabeth I in the documentary 𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒉: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒄𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒂𝒈𝒂 𝒐𝒇 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅’𝒔 𝑽𝒊𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏 in 2000, followed by 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒖𝒅𝒐𝒓𝒔 in 2008, worn by Liz Lloyd as Lady Morley.
