the voice tribute to christina
🎵What if you lived your life out loud?
🎵Not in the silence of your doubt
🎵I know that words can cut so deep
🎵But who the hell cares what they think?
🎵What if you let yourself be proud?
🎵What if you lived your life out loud?
🎵Not in the silence of your doubt
🎵I know that words can cut so deep
🎵But who the hell cares what they think?
🎵What if you let yourself be proud?
🎵If you live, live fearless
🎵If you love, love fearless
🎵Life on overdrive
🎵Take your chance and fly tonight
🎵We're fearless

Angels - To My Friend Christina Grimmie by Kat Perkins
Kat Perkins:
Christina Grimmie was my friend and roommate on season 6 of NBC's The Voice. I am saddened, confused, and deeply hurt with her senseless passing. Christina was a beautiful person inside and out. I will miss her bubbly personality, quirkiness, and talent. I wanted to honor her the only way I know how, with a song. Fly on sister. This is a tribute to her and those lost that same weekend in the Orlando Shooting. May we find a way to move forward in life making peace while letting go of evil.

Kat Perkins Pays Tribute To 'The Voice' Finalist Christina Grimmie, Orlando Shooting Victims
‘The Voice’ alum Kat Perkins recorded a charity single to honour her late friend, ‘The Voice’ finalist Christina Grimmie. The uplifting song, suitably titled Angels, is also a tribute to the victims of the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting.
Samaritan Mag published an article about Perkins’ release of her latest song Angels along with the launch of her #ChooseLove campaign. The campaign raises awareness benefiting the Grimmie family following Christina’s death. Grimmie, a former YouTube star known for making her own covers of popular songs with the help of her keyboard and her powerful singing voice, died in the hands of an obsessed fan.
‘The Voice’ finalist Christina Grimmie was opening for the band Before You Exit at The Plaza Live in Orlando last June 10. While Grimmie was signing autographs after her performance, Kevin Loibl approached and fatally shot the 22-year old singer. The gunman also shot himself after Grimmie’s brother Marcus tried to tackle him after the shot intended for Christina was fired.
Just two days after the attack, a killing spree went down and took the lives of 49 people at Pulse nightclub, which also happened to be situated in Orlando. Similar to what happened in the Christina Grimmie death incident, the shooter Seddique Mateen also died on site. However, it was the members of the SWAT team who killed and shot Mateen.
The shootings shook the nation and was highly publicised both locally and internationally. Perkins’ shock and grief over a lost friend and former roommate led her to record and dedicate Angels to all the lives that were lost that weekend.
As Rolling Stone reported, Perkins will donate all the song’s proceeds to ‘The Voice’ finalist Christina Grimmie’s official GoFundMe page, as well as to the Christina Grimmie Scholarship Fund for the Performing Arts at Christina’s former high school in New Jersey.
Written and produced by Eric Warner, Angels is available on all digital media platforms.
