If you are a poet, it’s out of necessity that you rock the boat, that you accumulate knowledge and you garner it and give it to people who didn’t know the complete history. These are things that artists do. If you consider yourself to be an artist then you have to rock the boat. You have to understand that this is a game they’re playing, you have to write something against it. That’s your job as a poet. Not to say that those who don’t are lesser poets, but I feel like it’s a part of the job.
