@purplefrayedisaster (kathleen)
drawing attention to herself was rarely something the goddess felt an urge to do, unlike most of her kind, she didn’t desire nor thrive off it. unlike the kinds of zeus and aphrodite, she wasn’t a narcissist who needed constant stimulation to make her feel alive. in fact, she often found more enjoyment in the fear and intimidation she was able to stir in even the strongest gods--men. there was little difference between the two in her eyes. there was a reason she called tartarus home and not olympus, there she didn’t have to deal with many others.
there she didn’t have to witness scenes like the one in front of her, a man berating and bullying what she assumed was his girlfriend, in the middle of a bar, over a stupid game and bet. she might’ve been paying half attention but she’d noticed enough to know he was nothing but a sexist pig who didn’t believe a woman could beat him, like most.
acting on pure impulse, if not spite, she closed the distance between them and grabbed the darts from his hand. without missing a beat, she sank each dart with a bullseye. ❝ you were saying ?? ❞ she challenged, turning towards him with a look of disdain. as he began mumbling off excuses and reaching for his wallet, she rolled her eyes and began moving back to where she’d been sitting and sipping her drink previously, but not before shooting the woman a glance and rebuffing the man. ❝ i don’t want your money. maybe buy the girl a drink and try being less of a πούτσος. ❞ she suggested.
one would have thought that the woman would have at least an umbrella or even a waterproof coat but she entered the hospital drenched, looking more like a lost cause than a doctor. she figured that she should at least clear out what she had in the spare locker here before charlotte got rid of her for acting inappropriately. jillian was afraid what her ex husband would say about her efforts; he would probably say that she hadn’t try and then she would face even more pressure from her sister to get the house cleaned out so that they could sell it on and split the cash. everything in her life had gone wrong for her. her inability to confront things early on had got her in this mess to begin with. she just wanted a friend but looked around only to see busy people and professionals. by the time she hit the break room, she was sobbing and couldn’t stop. it was like she had been before at the practice with charlotte, something else she wouldn’t speak about. her head lifted as she felt someone close to her. “i’m fine, i just need a minute to get my stuff and go.”
