Elizabeth Cook’s Star Turn in “The Easy Kind” Premieres June 3 in New York
- Limited run in theaters to follow
Described as a “genre-bending … narrative feature” film, “The Easy Kind” stars Elizabeth Cook playing a “fictionalized version of herself,” a character named EC.
Things are even weirder in the trailer, soundtracked with real Cook songs, “These Days” and “Thick Georgia Woman,” and featuring actual Cook performances and an interview with longtime supporter David Letterman, interspersed with traditional movie scenes.
“Some of us get punished when we don’t play by certain rules,” Cook the actor says in one such scene.
Directed by Katy Chevigny, “The Easy Kind” will debut June 3 in New York City with a limited run in theaters to follow.
“This is a piece of art that I hope speaks to all my fellow artists and the creative working class,” the real Cook said in a statement. “I am so grateful for the privilege to tell this story.”
