Our Book is on it's way! WCS
First Copy of Book
After working for several hours today on our book project (from about 10am-8pm to be exact) we have FINALLY created something that is worth every frustration and hour we have ever put into it. I cannot be happier with the outcome of our book for the Wildlife Conservation Society which will be called, "Voices for the Faces." This book completely depicts the vision that we have so diligently been working toward. Within our pages you will find beautiful photographs and text which will allow for you to see just how beautiful the WILD can be. This project is not yet complete, but I can say it has definitely been an experience and my group has definitely put forth the effort. We hope to be holding a finished copy soon. :)
Image Sequence
The Image sequence is the order in which the photographs appear in your book. This works within the larger master sequence to give your book a rhythm and flow.
This was a quote from Matt Thorn's video on how to sequence your book. I agree with his point that the way that we sequence our photographs will allow for the book to flow. This was seen within class today as we tried to put a story together by arranging the photographs.
WCS- Consulting with Our Team
The last few weeks are approaching and our final draft of the book will be due before we know it. Our team is trying to get together in order to come up with the type of book we want as well as the number of pages and content. Our group is going to meet tomorrow in order to lay out the pages (much like we did today by placing the photographs on the board with tape) in order to pair each picture so the our book will all flow together.
In Response to Angelina Pellegreno's Ranking Spreadsheet
I do have to agree with Angellina when she mentioned that a few of us faced some difficulty when it came to making the spreadsheet. Our group, myself included found it difficult when it came to the discussion of the ranking of photographs. It would have been a lot easier if the spreadsheet was one that we could all see and not have to copy and paste everything or flip between all of the tabs. This being said, the process was definately a learning experience and we came to find what we need to do in order to complete the project.
Comment on Jamie Mahoney's "22-page Book Binding"
I must say that I agree with Jamie when it comes to binding our books. We will just have to use the resources that we have in order to create our own way of binding. although this is true, what I have learned about binding has proven very informational and useful! I have already showed some people how to bind a simple book!
Ranking Chart
Upon completion of the "ranking chart" for the 22- page book, I feel as though it proved to be a bit frustrating. The reason being, it was hard for everyone within the groups to compile all of our rankings without each doing our own, sending them to one another, and then copying and pasting all of the information together. Also, one thing that I had to alter was the naming of a few of my pictures. It seems as though changing the name to "RM whatever" would not allow for the picture to be viewed. This shows me that technology proves to have it's glitches, and it is still a work in progress as is our books. :)
22 Page Book Project
With this book project, I came to find that it was more difficult than expected. What seemed to be the hardest was the layout of the book. Trying to lay out the pictures in a way that they all "flow," seemed to prove most difficult. I now have a new appreciation for even the smallest of books (literally) like the zene.
Learning how to bind a book was also very interesting. Using a simple needle and thread is a very practical way of creating your own book. We have learned thus far how to layout, print, and bind our 22 page books. This will bring us one step closer to publishing our own books.
