How to Reblog Responsibly
Sometimes while we browse tumblr or the interwebs we find awesome art we would like to share. However, it is important to reblog the art or ask permission of the artist before reposting. When you find art that is reposted, especially without artist’s credit, do not follow suit. It’s against the site’s guidelines to repost, especially without permission.
Here is an easy guideline on how to reblog art responsibly.
Step 1: Before reblogging, make sure the art was not reposted.
Reposters tend to make comments about the art in the description or tags. Sometimes they even include a disclaimer. “Credit to the original artist” is a common caption, which unfortunately does not mean they necessarily have permission to use the art. It is still art theft. Check the blog description if you have any doubts.
Keep in mind that some blogs may be an artist’s blog for hosting images that are linked in other sites. These will likely have a twitter or another site linked in the description.
Step 2: Search for the art elsewhere.
To check where else the art is found, right-click on the image and click “Search Google for image”. This option is only available in the Google Chrome browser. If you’re not using Chrome, copy the image link/address and search it using Google’s search by image.
Step 3: Filter the search results.
Since your goal is reblogging the art, add “site:tumblr.com” in the search box. This will limit your results to just images hosted on tumblr.com. You may also want to change up the search query to common tags that the art may have.
Step 3: If you find the original post, reblog!
Check the links from your results to find the original artist. Usually they will have a caption or the description makes it clear it’s an artist’s blog. Sometimes you can’t find a link to the original post, but maybe you find a tumblr page where the art was featured as another liked/reblogged post. Viewing the cache of the page will allow you to see the page at an earlier date, when it may have featured the post.
If you find the art, then rejoice! You can reblog! If you do not find it… Unfortunately, you cannot reblog it. Do not reblog the reposted art either, because it will only encourage them. Instead, politely ask them to take down the reposted art.
There have been many artists quitting tumblr or closing their accounts in response to having their art stolen. Others have refused to post any more fanart. It is a sad reality, but it shouldn’t be this way.
Please remember that while artists do want their art shared, they want and deserve credit for their creations. It not only helps the artist become more well known, but it also helps people find amazing artists to follow for more great art.
Please, reblog responsibly!

some of the social justice bloggers on this website remind me of some neo nazis i met once. seriously you guys are lobbing for complete cultural/racial separation. its fucking gross.
like what the hell. I can understand not like wearing hawk feathers because that is a religious thing and if it isnt your religion then you have no part in doing it. but things like words, foods, and (some) clothing spreading IS A NORMAL THING ITS CALLED CULTURAL DIFFUSION.
but really going by your fucking logic having plumbing is also cultural appropriation so better pull that shit out of your floor before you insult someone!
