hi, my favorite lgbt+ book of all time is have some pride by @drunk-on-writing, aka Courtney Carola, a collection of poetry all about being queer and the bravery it takes to be who you are. i’ve always loved the outside influences on the poetry through the poems inspired by queer people’s stories. my all-time favorite poem is called 1 corinthians 13:4-8, which shows the opposites of the verse and how it applies to being queer. here’s an excerpt of my favorite stanza:

it is not proud.

except when it is. and when it is, oh god, is it proud. it raises it’s flags as high as they can go, cheering and screaming and crying with glee at the accomplishments made, knowing that all the battles have been fought and all of the stones stepped upon have been worth it.

that’s only part of it and the rest of poem is heart-wrenching and heart-warming to read at the same time. and now would be the perfect time to get it, considering she’s about to release the second edition with all new poems and art! she also has another book, stay alive, which is just as good and delves into mental health. i swear this isn’t an ad or anything, i just feel hella attached to this book so i figured i’d ramble about it for a bit! anyway, 10/10 would recommend and go follow courtney for more of her poetry!
