the new normal (in which padfoot rants)
The show is about Bryan and David, a happy LA couple with successful careers who decide they want to have a baby. They meet Goldie, a single mother and waitress who moves to LA with her eight year old daughter and her bitchy, bigoted control freak Grandmother (who is actually pretty funny, if not ignorant as hell) follows after them. In need of money to support her daughter, Goldie decides to become a surrogate for Bryan and David.
The pilot episode was really funny and I'm looking forward to watching the series because I like the message that it is sending.
Which I said, for the billionth time to fiancee tonight when the preview came on. And he told me that he was reading up on it and some states have already decided to boycott the series and in some cases, not even broadcast it because of the premise of two homosexual men having a child.
And this just pisses me off. Fiancee's father is gay and he and his partner (aka Father 1 and Father 2 as I affectionately call them) have been together for 14 years. They are amazingly wonderful fathers and my daughter, their only granddaughter loves them to pieces. They are just AMAZING with her (even though Father 2 keeps trying to talk me into doing beauty pageants, which no.) and honestly, I couldn't even imagine a better set of grandparents.
And I don't know. It just makes me mad that people are bigoted and ignorant that they can't even show a fictional television show because of "objectional content". I'm sorry, it's not like they are gay sexing all over your television and in your front yards. It's just a tv show. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's that damn simple.

I just wanted to post about this because I'm genuinely upset about the issue here.
